I was just watching Jools Holland tonight and I noticed that the drummer with Keane was wearing a slogan with the message :
'Justice for Troy Davis'
I googled the name and found this;
http://www.troyanthonydavis .org/
It appears this guy was due to be executed in Georgia USA recently.
He was convicted on dodgy witness evidence of killing a cop.
Seven of the nine witnesses have now retracted their statements but the appeals failed and now Troy is to face execution on Monday next,(Oct 27th).
no smoke without fire, fry him

They never stopped!
42 executions last year, 26 of which happened in Texas!
28 so far this year. 20 more pending.

Yes, the US is proof that the death penalty is an effective deterrent against murder.
If only our limp wristed, sandal wearing, lentil eating, tree hugging, whale saving government would follow their example we could slash the murder rate.

It's actually proof that Capital Punishment does not act as a deterrent against murder. The states that do practice the death penalty actually have a higher homicide rate than the states that do not practice the death penalty. The link below backs this up:

Troy has been granted a stay of execution.
This grants him some more time to fight his cause.

Three years after starting this thread and I'm now listening to Troys sister talking to Pat Kenny on the radio.
Troy is still fighting for justice, but at least they have'nt executed him yet!!!!
