Thought he'd be right up J's political street!

So he can survive being in charge when an innocent man is shot dead, but gets shafted for incorrectly filling in a form?

Aaaah, Blue Labour.

Is this something about Tony Blair being caught doing a Hugh Grant?

Seems to have been a touch unfair to do this to a man who has obviously done a very good job for London. Could have been handled far, far better.

Indeed, it's all political Sir Ian Blair did an alright job for London, the media may have you think differently but crime was actually falling, part of that was down to Sir Ian Blair.

What happened with Jean Charles was awful yes, but I think in this case all the good Sir Ian Blair did outweighed what happened here.

Statistics show that serious crime figures in London have dropped under Sir Ian Blair and he was popular amongst the rank-and-file officers.
His problem was forging a close relationship with the current Labour government
( understandable when you consider why Met Commissioners and Home Secretaries need to get on during times of terrorist attacks on the streets of London ) when London's mayor was a Tory.
A good man brought down by politics.
