I sometimes catch it accidentally - it seems to be a poor man's version of CNN with lots of impenetrable interviews with thick-necked ex-politburu types who have either terrorised or blackmailed their way into cushy numbers in post-Glasnost Russia.
I normally give it a couple of minutes for a laugh until the constant use of interpreters bores the pants off me.
Why do you ask ?

Saw it for the first time last night, must say I enjoyed it. Chechen president was slagging off McCain for being a fumbling pensioner. Also saying US had to recognise BinLaden if they supported the idea of an independent chechnya.
Seriously top notch tv, going to keep an eye on it.

I saw it the other week when they were interviewing the survivors of Georgian ethnic cleansing from South Ossetia, they were showing the villagers fleeing in their hundreds from the brutal Georgian invaders.
Good stuff, but nowhere near as good as the coverage of the Olympics on that Chinese news channel. I was watching France 24 as well, and they were showing how the statesmanship of the French President Nicolas Sarkozy had brought an end to the conflict in the Caucasus.
CNN were showing how brilliant Barack Obama is, and FOX were running a story on how Sarah Palin had saved the Alaskan economy.
RTÉ were showing a traffic jam on some road in Dublin called the M50 or something.

yeah. its like Fox News , but for Vladimir Putin.
useful though - helps you figure out what the Russian government is thinking.
( and bear in mind folks that journalists in Russia regularly get assasinated if they investigate Putin too closely.. so take Russia Today for what it is - an updated version of Pravda..)
