For Starters, WE ALL WOULD, lets just get that out of the way.
As for her as a VP, I dunno i'm not an American. but I think she was a good choice she covers a lot of bases, Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, Libertarian Sorta Kinda, A good Republican.
As for her young wan being preggers and her husband having a drink driving record, that will help her more than hinder her, me thinks, makes her an ordinary American, a nice contrast to the eilte image of Obama.

theres a heck of a lot of stay-at-home voters who might come out to vote , just for her.
to be dead honest - obama looks tired compared to palin. that gal is fresh, new, and has got a soap opera 100 per cent pro-america life.
meanwhile, michelle obama is only ever proud of america when her husband is running for the presidency. and she and her husband have a pastor and go to a church where america is condemned and lambasted/
and then on top of that - obama hangs around with bill ayers. marxist terrorist and one of the "weatherman"
and folks still think that obama is suitable for president?

You know, my mother is 81 years old and has been a life long democrat and she wants me to take her to the polls in November so she can vote for Mccain because of Sarah Palin. She hasn't voted in 16 years.
I think McCain/Palin will win in a landslide.
I don't think Obama is "center-right", over here he is considered "Far-left"

Please do the world a favour and forget to pick her up on polling day.
Anyone who votes for McCain because of that loon he has as VP deserves to be smacked across the face with a dead fish.
She is a nutjob, and a scary nutjob at that. Read the "Gods Pipeline" thread in the langers forum to see why.
That and the fact that her 17 year pregnant daughter is "willingly" marrying her 18 year boyfriend should be enough to worry anyone.

The one thing I really admire McCain for is his hardline anti-corruption stance. I find it ironic then that he would choose a running mate who is being investigated for firing the state Public Safety Commissioner (Walt Monegan) because he wouldn't fire a state trooper who was divorcing Palin's sister.

I don't think you have the complete story on that. The state trooper tazed her (Palin) nephew who was a minor and threatened to kill Palins Father. He had a court order to stay away from Palin's sister but broke it several times.
Nobody wants to hear that though.
Why is it on this board if anyone has a different opinion that you they are "stupid" or "Deserves to be knocked across the head".
I would still take my mother to vote even if she was voting for Obama, its a respect thing.
My wife and myself are voting for McCain/Palin, my oldest son who is in college will get to vote in his first presidential election also, he says he is voting McCain too and has told us that most of his college friends are too.
I don't think our or the worlds news media have a clue on how everyday Americans feel about this race.
Probably my biggest question would be, why do you all really care. It doesn't have any effect on your country, whether liberal or conservative, our foreign policy is not going to change.
Enjoy you weekend overthere.

Probably my biggest question would be, why do you all really care. It doesn't have any effect on your country, whether liberal or conservative, our foreign policy is not going to change.
That's a pretty silly statement really. Do you really think a Democratic administration would have ordered the invasion of Iraq?
For quite some time now, America has been throwing it's weight around overseas, in most cases to disastrous and tragic effect, be it in Vietnam, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Chile, Iran, Iraq etc. The list is a lengthy one. Any fool can see that the party with the far more extreme and hawkish foreign policy is the Republicans. So, seeing as whenever America elects a Republican government, the whole world suffers, we have every right to care who ye elect.
Funnily enough, most Americans tend to suffer as well (especially working class Americans) under Republican administrations, which makes their popularity among the poorer central states all the more puzzling to me.
I don't hate McCain. He seems to be a decent enough guy, although sadly he seems to have started towing the party line to get the support of the hardcore Republican base and now just looks like Bush lite. But I really hate Palin. Not just because of her policies and beliefs, which are generally disgusting and insane, but she seems like a really nasty bitch. I don't think a single country in the western world would elect an angry, creationist loon to be potentially in control of the nukes. Apart from America of course.
Unfortunately, after 8 years of a government that was disastrous on every level, I think the Republicans will win again. For the same reason that FF get elected all the time in this country despite being a shower of corrupt, incompetent bastards - there are an awful lot of stupid people in this world.

I've long believed Obama won't win.
Not just because America will never elect a black president - because it won't.
But Obama's European foreign policy tour bombed at home because it was seen as hubris and his selection of Capitol Hill dinosaur Joe Biden as VP running mate made a mockery of his " change " campaign.
McCain's choice of Palin was a gamble which has paid off magnificently - she's deflected attention from his dull personality and her own dysfunctional family will go down a storm with the crucial voters in the redneck swing states of the Mid-West.
This election will be as close as the last one but won't need the same fixing that Bush's brother Jeb carried out in Florida to deliver him a second term.
End of.

Americans are generally thick, that is well established, but do you really think that when Americans stop one second to think about the election they won't realise Mccain is taking them for fools?
You say Palin has paid off "magnificently" but that is far to early to tell. One speech is not going to do it.When it comes to the debates she will be crucified.Obama is still odds on favourite to win, and hopefully will.
Beg to differ.
Obama and McCain are about equal in the polls - which given the overwhelming support of Obama from the liberal media and the massive attention his European tour and Denver rally attracted means his campaign has stalled.
Right now he must realise his biggest error was not selecting Clinton as his running mate.
If you follow the election through the American media you'd understand just how much Palin has captured the attention in what was becoming a dull overlong election.
Her selection was a master-stroke - you've got to remember she was an unknown Governor of the most isolated state in America - and the Republicans, at a stroke, have wiped out Obama's " change " message.
She will,if elected,be the first female Vice-President who is just a heartbeat away from an elderly President who could well die in office.
And this election will be won or lost in the key Mid-West swing states where a black man will be standing against a war veteran and a gun-toting ass-kicking VP.
Go figure,as they say stateside.

I see very little difference between him and McCain on foreign issues except that he wants to takes the troops from Iraq and put them into Afghanistan.
Obama will be like every other president - his foreign policy will be purely based around the continued supply of oil to America.

The USA is the richest country in the world. When the USA prospers economically, so does the rest of the world. It is still the engine of growth.
It also used to be the upholder of moral standards of conduct in times of war for the rest of the world, however Abu Ghraib has destroyed that, at least in the short term. Pity. I suspect it's given a green light for a lot more atrocities in future conflicts around the world, torture and extreme violence has now been promoted, while the institutions that uphold human rights have been undermined heavily by the current administration. The ramifications for the rest of the world will be felt for a long time.
The USA used to be at the forefront of human rights, however these have been abused to such a degree recently that the behaviours they have instigated are spreading to other western democracies, especially the UK. This is vital to Ireland. For starters, there's the border control measures used in the UK that are fairly useless but cause so much trouble that they create more problems than they solve.
These are policies directly imported from the USA and, in part, forced on the UK by the US administrations' tightening of their borders. It's why I have ruled out moving to the USA to work for the near future and I'd imagine I'm not alone.
Of course there's other things, fundamentalist christians have views of the world that clash directly with libertarian principles, which is what the USA used to be based upon and it's fundamentally changing the nature of the country. It makes me afraid for the future of what is the most important country in the world. Our short term future depends on what happens in the USA. If it goes titsup, so do we.

Scares the shit out of me too. I can think of at least 20 reasons why I wouldn't want someone with her beliefs in a place of any form of authority whatsoever. It's terrifying on so many levels.

Obama is, in many ways just a figurehead, a lot of rhetoric and not a lot of substance.
However, he projects an image of America that is vital right now to stop it's slide in the international arena into a morass of violent confrontational politics and a disrespect for other countries.
Even pretending to care what other countries think would be a vast improvement on the current administration and would go a long, long way to solving a lot of the world's major problems right now.

There was so much bullshit spouted in the lead up to the Iraq war, it's difficult to know where to start. They convinced themselves it was a good idea and found what they wanted to find. It's called confirmation bias.
What does this have to do with creationism?
Anyone who believes in creationism shows they don't listen to rational advice, evidence means nothing to them and have zero regard for science.
Someone with judgement like that is a bad person to be in the most important job in the free world.

It's as clear as day he wasn't referring to her. That "lipstick on a pig" metaphor is a favourite of his. He's used it several times in the past and before Palin made her pitbull and lipstick comments. It's just typical of the dirty tactics the Republicans are so expert at. And correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't I seen you make quite a few anti-Bush posts in the past? And now you've become a cheerleader for someone who's an ideological clone of his (Palin) and, IMO, potentially even worse than Bush. What the fuck is that about, like?

Apparently, her supposed trip to Iraq was all lies. She only got as far as looking at it through binoculars from Kuwait.
