Ah the irony !!! FG hold the Michael Collins BnB commemoration on the same day and at the same time Cork play Kerry in Croke Park, with the guest speaker being the l*nger who opened it.

Before anyone says anything else, I believe Michael Collins was fighting for a 32 county Irish republic free from British interference but had no choice, having signed the treaty, but to come back and advocate for its acceptance. The first half of my post was not about Collins but FG.

He is probably spinning in his grave at what FG have become.

What is all this nonsense about these great patriots and freedom fighters of that era what did they achive ? they fought and died to end British rule and begin Rome rule who ruled this country from the time of ''Independence '' up to the seventies ? the Catholic church did

As the loyalists in the north always said Dublin rule is Rome rule

In your shoes I'd be far more worried about what FF have become. A corrupt dictatorship which has squandered a boom and continue to unhinge democracy and keep Ireland behind in the world.

It is about what the man did for Ireland. The amount of years he is dead it totally irrelevant.

And totally knackered this state economically until the 1960's and destroyed it again in the 1980's.

He didn't do it alone. 32 Counties was never a practical outcome, unless you were going to Deport the Unionists, who after all started the trouble in the first place when the UVF landed arms in NI.
I think people would be better off not learning their history from the Movie with Julia Roberts and Liam Neeson.
