he's 8-4 ahead in the 3rd, going well. Has massive support too as you would expect for a home fighter.

not really. That's always been the way in the boxing. With a bit of luck anyway he'll be going for a silver or gold.

Not since 1992 at any rate as both Wayne McCullogh and Michael Carruth had guranteed bronze also

London 1948 was the last time they had to fight a "3rd place playoff".

since Helsinki 1952 there have been Bronze medals for both beaten semi finalists

incidently Irish Boxer John McNally won a silver medal at the Helsinki games in the Bantamweight final after losing by a split decision
