View Full Version : 7 named subs in EPL matches?

Well, when did this come about? Just looking at the teams for today's matches. Must have slipped in under my nose.

Heard it mooted a while back, but didn't realise it was given the go ahead. Not before time either, 5 subs for the PL when all the other main leagues and Euro comps allow 7 was beyond pitiful.

Today it was implemented for the 1st time .... it was ratified over the summer I believe and the PL needed to bring it in line with the rest of Europe .... At least it gives the bosses more choice when having to whip on a sub

I only read that in the paper 3 days ago, no real publicity over it surprisingly. Itll be good for young players and fringe players to maybe get a look in.

Excellent.

Could spell the end of JOS in the long term at United. Having a player like that who can fill several positions is boon with only 5 named subs, but with allowed there's plenty of scope to cover all areas adequately.

..it was passed about six months ago.

Fergie wants the same for the CL, dunno if that's come in yet.

my bad, ..unless he was looking for more than 7, he was having a moan before naming the bench for the final. ..perhaps looking for full squad to be available for subs such as at an international tournament.
