It seems that the little girl who sang a song before the national anthem was lip synching too. Apparently the girl that actually sang it didn't protray the right image, ie she was a big fatty.

Here we go.

Wasn't there an episode of star trek where some race killed off the duds at birth. It pissed Geordie off no end.

These are clearly the worst crimes ever perpetrated by China. Milli Vanilli had to give back the Grammys, let's have China's WTO membership revoked.

Well, if they're capable of dashing a little girls hopes and dreams, then they're capable of anything.

And have we forgot about the sneaky Irish and Michelle Smith those who live in glass houses should not throw stones

She should have gotten a clue when those 2,008 drummers spelled out "No Fat Chicks" in the arena. That happened, right?

It was a pretty extraordinary opening to be honest, I'm not sure what to do with all this fakery business. Essentially the whole show was a set of illusions, some augmented by wires and costumes, some with technology. London will have a lot of planning to do to top it.

Word has it that its planned for Gazza to hobble up to the podium to light the flame a la Ali in Atlanta and all the british athletes will sport Daly Thompson tashes as a sign of their ability and Boris Johnson wigs as a sign of their cunning. Can't wait.

It was that dutch coach/husband who corrupted her. Irish athletes don't do drugs. Everyone knows that.

Heh, in fairness I don't think they'll be able to top it. London is already having trouble with it's budget and it'd be wiser to cut back on the ceremonial stuff than the other budgets. I nearly didn't watch this one, but I was glad I saw it in the end.

Yeah. As opening cermonies go, it was head and shoulders above anything I've seen, and I thought Croke park looked great for the special olympics.

Anyone remember Euro96 opening? They had some knights on horses or something medevil. Utter cack. More of the same I suspect.

There is an old Chinese Proverb that says: "Man who speak with forked tongue should never kiss balloon."

The girl who they showed on TV was called My Ming.

All the chinese are capable of doing is imitating or faking. That's why they are the counterfeit capital of the world.

Name one recent Chinese innovation. (And by recent I mean within the past thirty years.)

They are the workshop/toolshed of the world.

For now, until Africa comes on stream.

Maglev Wind Turbines.

Without Klaus Halbach, they wouldn't exist. He discovered the "Halbach Array," which is what the Chinese are using as the basis for their "permanent magnet," concept.

And the late Dr. Halbach was from Germany.

Typical of the Chinese: steal an idea from somewhere else and then try and announce it as some sort of "innovation."

I just found this picture of a Chinese person watching Klaus Halbach at work:

So Leonardo Da Vinci invented the helicopter then?

How are people expected to innovate from scrap, and only with others of the same nationality?

Name something evented in the last 30 years without any input from someone from another country.

I think you know the point I am making: China is the cheap production facility of the world.

And as costs rise, then the large western companies who take most of Chinas production will move to the next low cost economy. China is now starting to feel the effects of increased costs and it's economy is beginning to falter. The Olympics could well be the swansong of this authoritarian dictatorship.
