New website for ye:-

www.AbandonedIreland .com

We've gone in and documented a few locations in the city like the old County Asylum, the Good Shepherd Magdalene Laundry Convent in Sunday's Well, Camden Fort at Crosshaven, The former Sisters of Mercy Convent in Kinsale. We're starting in Cork and covering a few places round the country as and when time permits. It's a work in progress.

There is an email address on the website if anybody wants to get in contact :-

We accept 'tip offs' and requests.

If anybody wants to submit articles we will publish them on the website.

If anybody wants to get involved with exploring then get in contact.

We are looking for exhibition space in the city to display this material if anybody can help then please get in contact.

If anybody sees this website and just wants to go sightseeing round any of the locations then please take care, don't go falling through rotten floors. Some of these locations are for a fact extremely dangerous. Please bear in mind we do not condone trespass or any other illegal activity, don't get yourself arrested. Please don’t mess it up for the rest of us.

Hey johnmcork. I’m definitely interested in hearing about any potential locations. Please drop me a PM or email.

And thanks for your compliments guys!

We'll be adding more locations in a few weeks and we're also planning to add virtual reality scenes to the website so you can step into these locations and wander round right from your PC.

As before if anybody wants to get involved we're looking for explorers, photographers, researchers, web guys and also anybody who can help getting access to locations.

There's an email address on the website. We're a friendly bunch and anybody is most welcome to email in (but please don't be just asking for how to access any of the locations we've covered.)

Am I the only one who doesn't like these 360 degree pictures?

This is really quite valuable documentary work - the Convent in Kinsale in particular. Fair play, lads.

daithi81 - bear with the 360 photographs - as soon as time permits we will add additional virtual reality functionality to the webpage which will make things clearer. I know these shots look a bit strange squashed up on your screen but we can print these shots wall paper size and they do come out amazing.

northmallexile - thanks for the compliment. The Kinsale article represents photographing the convent over 3 years duration. I wish I had better coverage and had access to better recording equipment a few years ago - it's too late now as most of the convent is unrecognisable. By the way I have recently uncovered much more historical information about the Kinsale convent so the web pages will be updated with further information at some point.

Nice site. The 360 degree photos are kinda spectacular at first but have a sort of sameness about them after a while. That said, if it's more for documentary purposes then they're ideal.

great site, well done, the panaromic photos actually work very well....

loved the photos of fort camden....

her sister barracks fort davis across the harbour is actually even bigger...

theres a huge network of underground buildings and passageways beneath the actual barracks itself, they go from the top of the cliffs right down to and below sea level....

the only problem is it's miltary property and is used by the army for urban warfar training so it's unlikely they'd give you access...

might be worth a try though its an amazing place..

Love the idea and photos, class idea.

Don't know if you'd be interested, but Bere Island has some amazing abandoned army sites, one on either end of the island (one being an irish base and the other the british base), one of the last places the british held along with lough Derg and Spike island I think, not 100% sure.

Great site, one of the best I have come accross. Those panoramic photos are fantastic - the exposures are spot on. What type of equipment do you use for them?

really cool site . sort of a mixed emmotion about the places and the state they are in . on one hand a shame they are not in use in some shape or form and on the other they look spooky and edgey as fuck in their disrepair.

dont know if this is relevant but apparently behind the p.a. repair shop cp tronix on leitrim street (i think thats the name)there is a an entire dancehall from the 40's . As in hasnt been used since .
Also what about some of the old parts of the North infimary or convents around by shandon . could be a few crackers there .

again smashing site .

Those pictures of Our Lady's remind me of when I was a kid/teen and we used to go up there exploring. Nearly fell through the floors a few times, what a laugh though. We never destroyed anything or caused any trouble. We just loved looking around and freaking ourselves out. :)
