View Full Version : Mystic Roman & Ebenezer's CL Predictions...spooky

Sorry fellas but had to pull you up on this with 3 of the last 4 being English and two of them forcing their way through to the final...only wish I put down a few sheckels on my hunch (which would've returned vaguely reasonable odds at the time I reckon)

The Pwemier League is one big weak link.

I shall enjoy all 4 English teams blowing up big time in Europe.

For what it`s worth I think an English side will win the EC this year.

with your record? worth fuck all.

Cheers buddy! Don`t think I`ve a horrendously bad prediction record on the whole, obviously not on the same plane as your good self.

Who do you fancy for this year`s CL?

no fuckit ill put my cock on the block for the moment.
havent made my mind up. can see a few teams do it.

inter, arsenal, chelsea, roma, realmadrid.

arsenal could win it depending on draw
real could win it regardless of draw
roma could win it if they got inter in the final
inter could win it if they get a few easy teams on the build up.

but cant see a winner outside them 5. if i was to be pushed and factor hard draws for arsenal etc. then i cant see beyond realmadrid. i think this year theres something special about them. but if they come up against arsenal or say inter in the final they wont cope. but a chelsea or roma in the final and theyll waltz it.

Listen up, Philby.

I detest your murdering scum of a team.

I hate all Premier Plague teams.

I post with my heart, not my head.

I'd sort you out with a few facts about the 'tragedy' at Hillsborough.

You Scouse scum.

Poor self-pity city.

Poor Michael Shields.

Poor 96 Hillsborough deaths.

What about 39 Italians :?:

SCOUSE SCUM :

There's a place we know where scousers go
and it's always lots of fun
you can have a laugh at many things
if you're ready with a pun

You can mock the dead of Munich
be glad that George Best's dead
you can sing a dozen funny songs
of Duncan Edwards' head

You can hope that Gary Neville
gets cancer and he dies
throw ammonia at Whiteside
and hope it blinds his eyes

You can even stone an ambulance
where Alan Smith is lying
even if it doesn't overturn
it's bound to be fun trying

You can talk of many pleasant things
with your like-minded mates
but you'll pause to show such reverence
as you pass the Shankly Gates

Where every single scally
who ever passed away
must be honoured and respected
have their own special day

Cos scousers are a special breed
their hearts upon their sleeve
they ask the country to join in
and watch them as they grieve

They celebrate and they respect
each liverpudlian who departs
they ask that we can shed their tears
and nurse their broken hearts

Yet mention dead of anyone
who doesn't fit their own
they laugh out loud there is no shred
of honour ever shown

They laugh at young men dying
on runways filled with ice
and celebrate that Munich day
and never would think twice

of mocking Harold Shipman's dead
that lived in another city
these wallowers in plastic grief
the masters of self pity

They wave their tin foil silverware
and throw cups filled with shit
to shower on opposing fans
but never will admit

the murder of their very own
their much loved Stanley knives
the night they killed Juventus fans
a tragic waste of lives

It's "justice for the 96"
but never 39
It's grieving for 'poor' Michael Shields
but not for Heysel dying

It's always everybody else
they're not the ones to blame
it was Chelsea, Yorkshire coppers
it's always been the same

We've all shed tears as 96
lay dying on the floor
but our sympathy has long since died
we'll grieve with you no more.

our sympathy has long since died
we'll grieve with you no more.

You do remember Liverpool won the European Cup in 1977 & 1978.

But Forest had just won the League Championship in 1978, months after being promoted from the Second Division (scraping 3rd spot on the final day of the season).

Forest (massive underdogs, 'a bunch of no-hopers') met the winners and holders of the two previous European titles - Liverpool, in the first round of the European Cup In 1979.

What happened :?:

We beat ye dirty Scousers 2-0 in Nottingham. After the game, the Liverpool players were saying to the Forest heroes ''wait 'til we get ye back to Anfield''. :lol!:

A poll was offered to 20 odd managers in the old First Division - 17 managers still fancied Liverpool to advance despite being two down from the first leg.

Forest went to Anfield and battled out a magnificent 0-0. Shilton was unbeatable. Some Liverpool players refused to shake the hands of the Forest legends after the match. Phil 'Pinocchio' Thompson was visibly crying.

Forest then went on to win the competition.

And guess what :?: We retained the cup in 1980.

Unfortunately, though, I wasn't born then.

Get out of that one, Michael Shields. :lol!:

You have no response, you mean.

Unlucky Philby, never challenge a younger football expert with superior knowledge.

And remember, we knocked ye out of Europe.

And when your scummy, drunk, ticket-less fans turned up at 2:50 at Hillsborough, we would have beaten ye.

The replay, at Old Trafford, 3 weeks later - what chance did Forest have :?: A nation's sympathy went out to Liverpool and their supporters.

seeing that were posting stuff we cant let go.

Personally I don't think that finishing is a particular strength of Saha or Torres

Torres has a great all-round game but isn't a proven prolific goalscorer.

that was awhile back. wasnt asked since.
ive said from day one this season that if arsenal finish ahead of chelsea in the league theyll win it and if they dont then chelsea will.
my team to win the champions league this year was real madrid. I got it wrong. But the only other teams i could see winning it were the above mentioned. Philbys posts have come a bit premature. When man utd or liverpool lift the european cup thens the time to bump it.

not when chelsea can still lift it.

anytime he had a defender up his hole he done nothing. many times he lost the ball. when he was given space and time he tore them a new one. its like ashley cole on ronaldo all over again.
the only time he had a guy right on him and he skinned him alive with unbelievable footwork was on the edge of the box with scholes afraid to tackle him. but it was a wow move allright.

defenders will wise up more to him as time goes on.
everytime he was given space he done something brilliant. everytime he had guy right on him he lost it.

Wise up to him? Nobody shifts their body as quickly as Messi does, and the ball may aswell be glued to his feet when he moves. He is completely left footed which should give a defender an advantage knowing his limitations, but it doesnt because he is THAT good. You know what he`s gonna do, but most of the time there is fuck all you can do about it.

messi had no space last night? ffs everytime you looked at him he space to pick up the ball and run with it.

Anytime he lost the ball he had a defender right on him.

They keep showing the messi back flick to beat evra in the first leg. I counted 6 times where evra was clung right up his whole and won the ball.

Im not saying messi didnt play well in both legs. he did. He was probably the best player over the two legs. Deco in the first, xavi in the second. messi in both.

i still have issues with the guy. i dont think he will last at the level hes playing long term. Hes got savage footwork at times. other times hes just luckey........

like the way the ball bounced up on a utd defenders leg when two of them were longside of him and went straight into the path messi was running looking like he genuinely won the ball between two defenders and beat them by going through the gap between them.

time will tell on messi, especially considering what he had to go through medically in his youth. still think kaka is way better than him and bojan to me is more my type of player and more likely to be a longterm success.

maybe the ol doll is gettin in the way of the tv with the hoovering becuase i must have seen 2 completely different games to you. i posted on it last week so im not gonna dwell on it. last week the first contact was usually a covering midfield player with a defender in close proximity. barca were camped in the utd half. there was no fuckin room. i counted twice where he managed to get past three utd players last week on the run with not a stepover in sight. no lucky bounces, just a drop of the shoulder and a swerve and some awesome close control. the only bit of 'showboating' was the flick over evra's head and that was split second thinking and necessary. last night it was the same deal only he dribbled more and beat the closest man on nearly every occasion. evra didnt really have to mark him last night because he drifted infield more often than not. i put it to any utd fan to honestly say they didn't feel fear when he had the ball. he didn't manage to make a breakthrough, fair enough, but that was more down to a packed defence and a bunch of indifferent teammates than anything. you contrast that with the amount of possession the best player in the world gave away with far more room to run into and you can perhaps get the measure of the player. if you cant see it then fair enough. i watch him more than any other player, bit like your torres fixation. every footballing pundit and expert seem to agree with me and disagree with the lad who tipped reyes to break henry's arsenal goalscoring record

maybe the ol doll is gettin in the way of the tv with the hoovering becuase i must have seen 2 completely different games to you. i posted on it last week so im not gonna dwell on it. last week the first contact was usually a covering midfield player with a defender in close proximity. barca were camped in the utd half. there was no fuckin room. i counted twice where he managed to get past three utd players last week on the run with not a stepover in sight. no lucky bounces, just a drop of the shoulder and a swerve and some awesome close control. the only bit of 'showboating' was the flick over evra's head and that was split second thinking and necessary. last night it was the same deal only he dribbled more and beat the closest man on nearly every occasion. evra didnt really have to mark him last night because he drifted infield more often than not. i put it to any utd fan to honestly say they didn't feel fear when he had the ball. he didn't manage to make a breakthrough, fair enough, but that was more down to a packed defence and a bunch of indifferent teammates than anything. you contrast that with the amount of possession the best player in the world gave away with far more room to run into and you can perhaps get the measure of the player. if you cant see it then fair enough. i watch him more than any other player, bit like your torres fixation. every footballing pundit and expert seem to agree with me and disagree with the lad who tipped reyes to break henry's arsenal goalscoring record

every pundit agreed with ya on duff and ronaldinho too.
when they should be at their peak their either in hospital or whorehouses.
maybe messi should get some more incredible hulk injections and he might start to be more of a force.

semi-finals predictions

Liverpool v Chelsea
Barcelona v United

Final:
United v Chelsea

winners:
United

(Ronaldo hat-trick in the final)

5 out of 5 so far for me.. ..predicted the 4 winning quarter-finals correctly, ..then United to beat Barca, and Chelsea hold the advantage in the other.

..get on the Ronaldo hat-trick for the final!

Sorry fellas but had to pull you up on this with 3 of the last 4 being English and two of them forcing their way through to the final...only wish I put down a few sheckels on my hunch (which would've returned vaguely reasonable odds at the time I reckon)

so philby.........i still want to know seeing that i couldnt see past a few teams winning the champions league and one of my teams is now in the final and in my view more set up and more likely to win it, that its bumpable......especi ally seeing that you predicted an english team to get there and i predicted an english team "chelsea" could win it......

that was awhile back. wasnt asked since.
ive said from day one this season that if arsenal finish ahead of chelsea in the league theyll win it and if they dont then chelsea will.
my team to win the champions league this year was real madrid. I got it wrong. But the only other teams i could see winning it were the above mentioned. Philbys posts have come a bit premature. When man utd or liverpool lift the european cup thens the time to bump it.

not when chelsea can still lift it.

Listen up, Philby.

I detest your murdering scum of a team.

I hate all Premier Plague teams.

I post with my heart, not my head.

I'd sort you out with a few facts about the 'tragedy' at Hillsborough.

You Scouse scum.

Poor self-pity city.

Poor Michael Shields.

Poor 96 Hillsborough deaths.

What about 39 Italians ?

:lol!:

Beat this, Philby :

Unlucky chump (http://www.peoplesrepublico fcork.com/~peoplesr/forums/showthread.php?t=113 024)

You have no response, you mean.

Unlucky Philby, never challenge a younger football expert with superior knowledge.

And remember, we knocked ye out of Europe.

And when your scummy, drunk, ticket-less fans turned up at 2:50 at Hillsborough, we would have beaten ye.

The replay, at Old Trafford, 3 weeks later - what chance did Forest have ? A nation's sympathy went out to Liverpool and their supporters.

That's myself sorted.
