JENKINS SET FOR MOVE TO IRELAND
09:00 - 29 April 2008
Former Wales coach Gareth Jenkins was today linked with a return to rugby - in Ireland. The 56-year-old has been out of the game since being sacked by Wales after their failure at the World Cup in France.
But he is being linked with the post of forwards chief at Leinster and also the head coach's role at Munster.
He is believed to have been in Ireland yesterday for talks with both provinces.
Leinster have to replace Jim Williams as their forwards chief after he returns home to Australia this summer, while Declan Kidney was today expected to be unveiled as Ireland's national coach.
Jenkins revealed earlier this year that he was keen to get back into rugby after the disappointment of the World Cup, when Wales crashed out at the pool stage after losing to Fiji in Nantes.
He was touted for a role at Ulster after Mark McCall's exit last November, only for Matt Williams to land the vacant head coach's job.
Despite his time with Wales going wrong, ex-Lions coach Jenkins is not without admirers in rugby, at home and abroad, and he believes he still has something to offer at a high level.
