Nice to see Westmeath put the Dubs to the sword on Saturday evening. According to the papers, the fans and themselves, all dublin had to do was turn up to win this one. They were outplayed and outmuscled in the match and went nearly the whole second half without scoring. they'll point to the fact that they were missing a laod of players, through their own ill-discipline i might add, but that wasn't far off the team i watched hammer DCU and their ringers in the O'Byrne cup last year. Also, Westmeath were missing a few.
That flanagan lad in midfield is an animal for them.
Then yesterday, Derry put one over on the animals due in no small part to a dominant midfield performance. I haven't seen Kerry so thoroughly routed at midfield for a long time. If Derry can repeat that in the championship and keep getting the ball to paddy Bradley, they'd have to be a good bet for the Ulster crown. Especially seeing as Armagh and Tyrone seem to be in need of rebuilding.

What really grates me about the dubs is the way caffrey and his cronies endorse their actions. What a bunch of animals.I wouldnt even cheer for them against Kerry.

True...and I actually stuck a few bob on them.
Bradley is a phenomenon though. everyone knows about him and knows that if you can keep him quiet, you've gone a long way to beating derry. But he keeps coming away with 6, 7, 8 point hauls in every game. he can score from just about anywhere inside the 45.

shame he has spent much of his intercounty career thus far in an underperforming derry side, perhaps yesterdays win could be the kickstart derry football needs, can go far this year given that ulster could be the weakest its been for over a decade.

you can't help feeling sorry for players like that. derry have never been awful, but Ulster was the hardest province to get out of for the last 15 years and the style employed by most teams up there smothered Derry's attacking game. I like the way they play football and now they have the personnel to take on the bully boys.
Unfortunately, players like Forde, Browne, Sheridan(Longford) and so on will never have a team around them to give them the shot they deserve.
