try and run as much as I can - will be looking to do 30+miles a week running in the next few weeks.

At the moment, I cycle 4-5 times a week, mix of cross country mountain biking and road........nothing less than 1hr of hard session up to 3hours or so of an easier spin just to build up the endurance....race at weekends if there's one within a 2/3 hour drive.
Soccer....play 5 a side once a week in astro.ie league,
1\2 sessions of skipping/bodyweight training
1/2 yoga sessions
thai-boxing classes, depends really....try and fit one in every week, but doesn't always happen.

I don't drive so I cycle and walk most places. I cycle to and from work which is a mile and a bit each way, not very far I know but when my brakes aren't fucked and the conditions are good I move fairly fast to give myself a bit of a decent cardio workout. Not too bad for keeping the leg muscles in tune either.
I play a full 90 minute soccer match at the weekend most weekends and I'd try to play one 5-a-side during the week too.
I should go swimming far more often than I do cos I'm a good swimmer but it kind of wrecks my head that my local swimming pool (Gus Healy, Douglas) is only around the corner but is an absolute fucking disgrace. I wouldn't even stand on the edge of it and piss into it for fear of what might splash back on me let alone get into it.
Running doesn't appeal to me at all, it bores the shit out of me but sometimes I'd do a few laps of the big field behind the swimming pool just to keep the cobwebs at bay.
I have some free weights at home too. I should use them to keep the auld muscles toned. I get them out every so often but they gather dust most of the time.
Ideally I should be doing light weights 3/4 times per week, going for a decent run once, playing one 5-a-side and playing one match at the weekend but the soccer and the cycling to work is all I do in reality. Still though, I'm reasonably fit. The fact that I don't drink an awful lot and don't smoke at all helps. I likes me food though. I have a sweet tooth.

Used to be about 4 gym sessions a week for over an hour each time. Final year of college is putting an end to that, but hopefully should be back to some bit of gym visits sometime soon.
Will be taking up swimming in the summer as well, going to try running but my knee is fucked so we'll have to see.

Gaa training twice a week, tues n thurs, 90 minute sessions. Match at weekends normally, if no match, third training session. Rest days are wednesday and friday, need to rest to recover from training. Last year I was playing in astro league on wednesdays and with buddys on fridays, eventually I developed a back injury which in turn lead to a double hamstring tear, so no I'm watching what I do more. No astro if I can avoid it.

3/4 times a week in the gym.
2 GAA training sessions but only doing light work. Bit like Louis Saha for the injuries resulting in not having played a match in a year.
An hours swimming a week.

To the folks that go swimming, how many lengths do ye do?
I do 20 but i dunno if i should be aiming higher or what.
Yoga is something i wouldn't mind taking up.
Heard its meant to be unreal good for you and that its actually not a bad workout.

I agree Stevie, it would bring the raging ying of the SFI and the smoothing yang of the rest of us into kilter.
I done a little bit of it before as part of other training i was doing and even the little bit that i know still stands to me.
Some great stretches. Definitely wouldn't mind taking it up full time .
train twice a day 6 times a week. 45 min cardio at lunch 1 to 1.5 hours weights in the evenings

i bench 155 myself, but i compete at world level. i used do all the big 3{squat,deadlift,ben ch} but i have been on a 2 year quest to become an ironman.
i had a go at the uk ironman last year and died on mile 4 of the run, so no more squats of deadlifts untill i claim my ironman finishers medal . hopefully at the french I.M. in nice.in 95 days........
i plan to be the first ironman who can bench double their body weight.
i am also an n.c.h.e.s. qualified personal trainer , but due to the volume of training i have at the moment ,i only have a few clients.

I'm more into fitness myself, I've upped the soccer to 3 nights a week and try to so at least one swim.
Have a cross trainer and small multi gym at home but hardly ever use them, find it a bit boring to be fair. Fitness is gradually improving. Belly is as good as gone since Christmas.
Possibly going to go back playing junior hurling next year but not sure I could comit the time.

Run 8k in 35 mins at least three times a week.
40 mins of free weights twice a week.
Now that the weather is getting a little better I'll start doin a bit of joggin outside. Probably in Phoenix Park.
Just don't enjoy swimming. But I suspect that's cause I'm not doin it right. I wouldn't mind being in better condition. But I don't want to spend all my time in the gym either. I'm gonna buy a bike this week as well I think. Wouldn't mind taking up yoga.

I always said you were a lazy fecker...
Me i play 5 a side Monday & Wednesday. Usually 3 road runs a week varying between 5&10 miles each.
Would step up the road running, do a bit of swimming and less of the 5 a side stuff when training for a Marathon toward the end of each year. Give up the football for fear of injury which with me is a regular thing. Cant do weights though at all, I get fierce bored.
Gym twice a week, ..cardio and weights, followed by a swim.
..then ruin it all over the weekend.

Gym normally 5 times a week(when no matches on the weekend), between 45mins and an hour and 15 mins cardio work with maybe 15-25 mins of weights each time but nothing too strenuous on weights anymore.
A game of 5/6 a side ball with work once a week (very easy session), a game of squash once or twice a week and probably a GAA junior match and a junior soccer match on the weekend (which reduces the gym sessions) for which there's no training.
Also go on the piss twice a week though which limits the effect of the above. Basically i'm a completely different person monday to friday compared to the weekend.

I've cut down a bit due to my advancing years...
6 days a week in gym now - 2 hr sessions - half cardio/half weights
Over the 6 days - 20K Running , 20K Cross trainer, 20K Stationary Bike and 10K Rowing machine
Weights - Chest/Triceps Mon/Thu, Back/Biceps Tue/Fri and Legs/Shoulders Wed/Sat
I'd do a bit more on Cross Trainer or swim on the Sunday if I'm bored and have nothing else on that day....

The gyms you go to are crowded with guys trying to look like men, as if being a man means looking the way a sculptor or an art director says.
Maybe self-improvement isn't the answer.... Maybe self-destruction is the answer?

Other than swimming couldnt be arsed, prefer to do weights at home or head out on the bike.

I just find it funny when some chubby type goes on about how often they go to the gym.
Do they understand it doesn't compensate for eating chips in itself?
Particularly (with a nod to POL) if they're just tipping away down there more interested in eyeing up the talent.

I would agree with the POL man chin ups and pulls are the king of strenght training.I can only manage to do 20 in one go they are an absolute killer.I used to be big into lifting weights but now concentrate on circuit traning pull ups, press ups ,sit us, squats etc. Most weeks I'd run around 50-60k and would run a lot of road races 10k's and the occasional marathon.Thinking of getting into triathlon's but Ive been saying that for a long time.yea, I concentrate on dead lifts, squats and chip ups mainly now, you'd alway laugh at these meatheads benching 200 kilos and then they can't do 4 chins

i laugh at anyone who cant bench 1.5 times their body weight.
chins and pull downs actuall help your bench. agonist+ antagonist muscle groups worked together was a favouite trick of franco columbo to increase his 1rm on the bench.
i always warm up with a few sets of chins b4 the serious stuff.
