Happy enough with the draw, United will have to beat two proper footballing sides if they are to get to the final, and both are good teams (Roma and Barca)

Still don't think United will but I'm glad they avoided English teams, as the hype will be too much, with a Championship to defend

Was it Ronnie Whelan who tipped Barca for the CL a few weeks ago ???

We should get past Roma - if so and barca win that would be a cracking semi-final...

A buddy of mine (Arsenal fan ) told me last week that he reckons Arsenal would win it but would have to play Pool,Chelsea and Utd to do it...he may not be far wrong ....

They are a much better side that we saw last year

Think United will need a result over there this time, away goals are crucial

Yeah..would have preferred home tie first but then we SHOULD still get past them...if not, we don't deserve to win it ...no excuses...

Penalties after Extra time, Gerrard v Van Der Sar for the trophy.

The best thing about the draw for me is that United generally don't play as well against teams with better tradition than them in Europe

Only Liverpool have better tradition than them in this comp, Roma and (if they do win) Barca won't automatically assume they have a right to beat United and may be as apprehensive as United about such a tie

Also, United generally don't play well in the knock outs against underdogs do Shalke and Fenerbache are possibly well avoided

Liverpool will knock Arsenal out, sorry, but that's the way it looks to me. Away leg first, scoreless draw then bring them back to Anfield and snatch a goal.

Liverpool will more then likely go to the final now.

Hardly.

Great draw for manyoo. Avoided the real teams and pulled a team I've upgraded from pub team to Brewery representative team. This should see them through to their inevitable defeat in the semis, unless someone else beats the big team for them, in which case they'll lose in the final.

Awful draw for both Arsenal and Liverpool. The one team each one didn't want to play. Arsenal's eclectic football vs Benitez's European pedigree. Could spell the end for Arsenal's title ambitions which is good news for Chelsea.

My semi-final line-ups would be
Liverpool - Chelsea

Controversy surrounded the Champions League draw today after the full slate of quarter-final ties - including Liverpool v Arsenal, Manchester United v Roma and Chelsea v Fenerbahce - were predicted nearly two hours in advance on the internet.

Though there is no suggestion that anything untoward occurred, details of a supposedly 'rigged' draw emerged on various websites at 10.28am on Friday morning.

It was claimed that the odds of anyone guessing the full draw - including which quarter-final winners would be drawn against each other in the semi-finals - were 191/1.

A UEFA spokesman said: "There is no way the draw was rigged. This was a draw made in front of millions of television viewers and in front of the officials and management of all the club. I just don't see how that can be possible. The balls were not marked at all, they were put in the bowls and shuffled around before they were drawn. I was at the draw this morning and it was all done properly. I cannot understand how this happened."

Well, if you think about it, they've guaranteed, more or less, that either manyoo or Barca will be in the final. They're are far more day-tripping fuckwits attached to those clubs than any of the other teams left in the competition.
Also, they are the biggest draw, advertising wise, so it works out well all round.

I have no doubt the draw same as last year and the year before.
It was the fact that the bookies stopped taking bets on a 40,000 to 1 shot that should give it away really.

More generally, I'd have fancied Liverpool over any of the non-English teams and Chelsea. Not so much against Arsenal or Man Utd.

Wouldn't consider Utd's draw to be all that easy. Roma are not terrible. Barcelona would have been an easier draw - they are poor at the moment. There's a reason why they're miles behind Madrid in the league. Utd's speed up front would cut them to shreds.
