Deadly partnership in an Irish league.Jason Byrne, maybe but Glen Crowe, nah. He's not what he used to be.
City have a very good chance if things go well from the start. I think it stats on March 7th.

i'm looking forward to the new season with a fair bit of optimism actually...Matthews would have probably been my choice anyway if Rico was going to go, and he has laid his cards on the table, and quickly decided to go for those he wants to bring into the club...let's hope he can keep the lid on Georgie's self defeating excesses and that Mooney carries on from last season and we will have the guts of a very strong challenge in the League stakes...

So, what's the deal this season, are 4 teams getting relegated and 2 coming up?

nice fixture to start off with. i'm very confident about city this season which surely means disappointment in the offing for the sandman.
we should 'do' bray though, i'm going with 3-0.

In 2009, the FAI are planning to bring in a 10-team "A" league and a 12 team "B" league. Dunno about relagation issues on anything else

Dunno about relagation issues on anything elseFrom what I can gather the structure in 2009 will be Premier Division, First Division and "A" Championship. There will be 3 teams relegated from the Premier this season with the First division champions being promoted on their own. The team that finishes bottom of the First division will play off against a team from the "A" league wich will be made up of Eircom league reserve sides and current intermediate sides.

jason byrne would be first choice striker at just about every EL side, however crowe is a spent force- he would get nowhere near citys first team this year
mooney, georgie, a fit jof would all wipe the floor with him and even behan is probably more dangerous at this stage :)
last year crowe was no threat so i dont see why this year will be any different

Tough second week ....Shamrock Rovers away 14th - Drogs home on 18th and Derry home on 21st (Good Friday)...would be a very good Friday if we have 10 points , 12 if we're greedy, from the first four games at that stage....given that we beat Bray tomorrow of course...
