The British press are hyping this up: Fernando Alonso felt he was hard done by at McLaren.

McLaren were found guilty of cheating last year, and were fined millions of Euro for it. The Spanish fans are not particularly fond of Hamilton because of what they perceive was the injustice meted out to Alonso last year at McLaren, therefore they probably felt entitled to boo McLaren and Hamilton at the training session. I don't see any evidence of "racist" insults though, maybe they were shouting "British tosser." In my opinion they would be perfectly entitled to, bearing in mind what they had to put up with last year.

So a team of known cheats who in the view of a large number of Spaniards treated their hero unfairly last year gets booed upon its return to Spain. Wow, I never would have seen that coming.

Jesus it wasn't just booing, there was a photographer on 5live there saying that there was a group of them with shoe polish on their faces and T-Shirts saying "Hamilton's family" on it.
That's just fuckin wrong like and there's no excuse or place for it in sport.

Blacking themselves up and wearing t-shirts with 'Hamilton family' is not only infantile but just a tad racist in my book. The Spanish have always let themselves down when it comes to racism. The treatment of Samuel Eto'o a few seasons back was the worst i've seen in sport. Fucking spics.

Well that is racist, so therefore it is unjustifiable and totally wrong.

Yours is the first post that indicates the racist nature of the abuse.

Neither reason you've given apply here.
Read ATS' post.
It sums the situation up pretty clearly.

The fans feel thatHamilton is to blame for Alonso losing the support of his team and thus the chance to win the world championship.

I just saw the picture:

http://i31.tinypic.com/rhs3z9.jpg

What would worry me more though is this comment last October from Carlos Gracia, who is the president of The Spanish Motorsport Federation:

"It is perfectly normal for a British team and British fans wanting to succeed in formula one but it is ironic that the racists in England are having to rely on a coloured pilot."

France > Spain

that's not fucking about...

it appears from the report to be just one fan which leaves it open to abuse, rather than a large crowd section. Surely if the one fan was identified prosecutions could have been carried out on the individual.

Metz docked a point over racist incident

PARIS, March 27 (Reuters) - Ligue 1 bottom club Metz will be docked a point and must play a home match behind closed doors after a racist incident there last month, the French Professional Football League (LFP) said on Thursday.
Morocco defender Abdeslam Ouaddou, the Valenciennes captain, was racially abused by a Metz fan during the Ligue 1 match at Metz on Feb. 16.
Metz said they would seek legal counsel over the League's decision.
"We are surprised by the harshness of the sanction," they said on their Web site (www.fcmetz.com).
"In the coming days, we will talk with our lawyers in order to find the best way to respond to this decision."
Metz now have 17 points from 30 matches and trail 17th placed Racing Lens, who are just above safety, by 17 points.
