Good run by Mossbank pipping The Listener for a place. The race for first place was never a contest really.

yeah Mossbank is a very good prospect, as Hourigan said pre race, he's one for next year

Haven't seen the race yet but I think it's fair to say that The Listener just doesn't get 3 miles. 2 and a half would appear to be his optimum trip.

Irrelevant of the winner of the race, yes, Hardy did take on Jazz & beat him, just to answer you Q...!!

Ran a great race, & a trip just over 2m is for Hardy... he's far from gone just yet!

agreed Carmona !!! Hardy has made me quite a few bob over the years, have a soft spot for him, but age is surely catching !! Shame we've no Detroit City!

Did you back many winners in Leopardstown??

I've left off backing (almost) altogether. Still enjoy the racing though. I'd say Sublimity, Sizing Europe (right name?) or evn Katchit might take the CH. In fact looking at that big fuckin grey in yesterday's race, he wasn't far off and he powered up the hill at Cheltenham last year. Might be a dark horse, iykwim.

Well I found the stakes were going higher and higher. I wasn't actually losing much but I thought it was a very bad sign that one year I'd be putting a tenner on a horse and 12 months later it was up to a grand. One day I put a grand on an evens and he lost, an hour later I chased it with a slightly odds on chance and that came in. If it hadn't I'd a been down 2,000 sterling in an hour. No thanks. Now around Cheltenham I'll place a few bets but mostly I try to avoid it. Didn't like the pattern as I say.

jesus ! a grand ! no matter how much money I had, don't think I could do it. I have to limit myself - could SO easily get carried away.....

As the saying goes - you never see a poor bookie !

It is possible to be a successful gambler but you have to have serious discipline. "Chasing" is just the fucking pits and you feel like a total dickhead when it doesn't work. I think if you're scaring yourself it's best to cut way down alright. That's what I had to do. Gambling's great fun but when the bets get out of proportion to what you can afford and when you bet for the sake of it rather than carefully trying to find value that's when you go up shit creek.
