Holy shit, it never ceases to amaze me the absolute crap people will listen to! Anyone see the new advert for all these "Irish" dance remixes. Most of these songs, I thought, couldn't get much worse but hey some gobshite from the arse end of nowhere has done just that by cheesy remixing of the likes of Whiskey In The Jar( I like Thin Lizzys version, this is just awful), Hey Baby(don't ever remember that being Irish), Maniac 2000(yes it has been made even cheesier) and the one and only for every whacker out there, The Fields Of Athenry! You must see this advert! It's fucking embarrassing!

Agreed!

I usually apply the phrase "each to their own" but it just doesn't apply to this whatsoever!

you could say that cheese/commercial music can be good way of introducing some of the young people to electronic music.

But this is more of deterent!

remember the days when quality dance music made into the charts.

LFO - LFO, Innercitie's Big Fun & Good Life, De la soul, Gypsy Woman... the list goes on.....

There was none of them poxy high pitched synths in those tracks.

most people don't care enough smithy. they accept whatever garbage cowell and walsh tell them is good. sad but true, most people would choose a westlife concert over a bob dylan anyday.

you wouldnt believe it but where im spending christmas there are two local "nightclubs" and they play this shite, and the pissed (and i mean rotten) culchees give it socks. Its horrendous. Actually tried doing a detroit night in one of them last year, when playing strings of life I got asked, a wan in disgust asked me "are you gonna play something I can dance to or shall I go home?" Culling comes to mind.

Think teenybopper knacker disco music, but with boggers

My condolences. As (cheesy Bob Sinclar would say), I Feel For You.

As much as I detest Boy Racers I still actually don't think they stoop so low to listen to that rubbish! It must be fairly popular considering they are doing TV ads for it! Probably a load of Dublin scangers buying it!

storman norman and so forth

That's inspired. Must check him out sometime.

I absolutely love those adds. Would love to have a listen to it, obviously could never buy it for moral reasons.

You may be reassured to hear that they also have a Scottish clubland. Same deal with Flower of Scotland, etc remixed. Was at a party and the lads stuck it on for the laugh. Quality.

haha, back in my cheese days i had plans to remix the national anthem and make it big! :p
I was planning on a trance remix, slightly less worse than the clubland cds.

Nah, that was a different time.

I mean you cant change the past like, it took me a while to find the underground, (besides the underground side of trance.)

Its mainly thanks to the bass nights, when saunderson was brought over for the 1st time, i started checking out his tracks online and was loving it.
Worldofdeep was a great site actually, had shit loads of tracks on the KMS streaming on it.

Its all about who youre exposed to, upto then i wasnt exposed to much.

Theres no point in being embarressed about that, more like ill just be glad that i did find decent music.

The progressive and techy types.
Labels like Ajunabeats, Subversive, Lost Language, platipus, Scanner Records, Bonzai has some sub labels.
Saying that Lost language and Bonzai had some tracks that were big at the same time.

Jesus id say those labels wouldnt be half as underground as what DJ Complex would know of.
Since i got got into techno i didnt bother buying trance anymore.

You might like Ozgur Can actually, these days hes making tech house and techno actually, has a release on Beyers label.
Even Mauro Picotto has some techno releases, and sure he had commercial trance tracks in the charts.
