The perpetual General Mick Collins trophy for Idiocy: It has to be Liam. Too many examples to mention

Thread of the Year: Any of the Rugby World cup ones, most got deleted

Rattledom of the Year: emurph ratting the lads out and nearly getting us banned

Sport/Event most exposed by the SFI: The Irish Rugby World cup dream.

Jock Of the year: I'm going with EddieB, not a bad lad

Bumslapper of the Year: Kola. Myopia on steroids. A very sick puppy

Vice Like Psychological Grip of the Year: MON over Kola

Post of the Year: Protzov on drugs in cycling was phenomenal

Most Improved Poster: HappyMonday, with very honourable mention to Nimic

Bitterest Poster: I'd say St Finbarr, even for an SFNE, he's pathetic

Team of the Year: Kilkenny

Sports person of the Year: In a non vintage year, I saw nothing better than Gooch

plus the big one

Poster of the Year
Tie between RebelRed and RonnyB

Phrase of the year: This is fucking excellent for.....

Quote of the year: ManUnited > Watergrasshill

took a while to compile but worth it:

Most Underrated Poster of the Year: RonnyB

The perpetual General Mick Collins trophy for Idiocy: Liam, it's fucking excellent for him.

Thread of the Year:Argentina Day (http://www.peoplesrepublico fcork.com/~peoplesr/forums/showthread.php?t=115 399&highlight=Argentina)

Rattledom of the Year: A no brainer, Amadeus handing out the rattling (http://www.peoplesrepublico fcork.com/~peoplesr/forums/showthread.php?t=108 771)

Sport/Event most exposed by the SFI: The Golden Generation of Irish Rugby at the world cup, and the Pro Jock media bias in the run up to opening croker, claiming the anthem was sung at the special olympics, that was amatuerish at best and well exposed.

Jock Of the year: Prionsias

Bumslapper of the Year: Stevie G (he doesn't get many awards so it's nice to see him honoured)

Vice Like Psychological Grip of the Year: MON v Kola

Post of the Year:
Amadeus came up with this beauty: The Argie SFI (http://www.peoplesrepublico fcork.com/~peoplesr/forums/showpost.php?p=17290 79&postcount=9)

And the Prophet 2me gets it bang on:
Tevez (http://www.peoplesrepublico fcork.com/~peoplesr/forums/showpost.php?p=15787 23&postcount=57)

Most Improved Poster: Edmund Blackwater

Bitterest Poster: Emurph

Team of the Year: Irish Cricket Team, ya they may have been hammered in the super 8, they may not have won anything, but they made history and knocked out one of the giants of the game, unlike the professional rugger goys. In a year where Irish sport has fallen on its ass in alot of disciplines, these guys were a shining light!

Sports person of the Year: Tough one this, for his exploits in the final yet again though, Gooch

Poster of the Year
Lamps & EddieB

Phrase of the year: "Matured as a nation"

Quote of the year:

this is fucking excellent for Ireland
france lost to the argies, this could see us top the group YEEEEEEEEESSSS

RonnyB
22-11-2007, 05:52 PM
Most Underrated Poster of the Year: Megatron for his devotion to the cause of GAA in the county

The perpetual General Mick Collins trophy for Idiocy: Has to me L2M. He lit up like a mother fucker during the transfer window.

Thread of the Year: I quite liked Naff’s thread with regards Thierry Henry wearing Barca colours this season in the form of Arsenal's 3rd jersey. That was fucking excellent insight from him.

Rattledom of the Year: 2 words. Black Thursday

Sport/Event most exposed by the SFI: Does the Oirish campaign at the RWC have any serious competition? Doubt it.

Jock Of the year: EddieB for his never shying away of any battle.

Bumslapper of the Year: Kola

Vice Like Psychological Grip of the Year: I’m going to go for Lamps’ short lived tussle with the he/she or it itself FRAP. That was obsession well beyond SF normality.

Post of the Year:
ATS gets this for the ‘Colour Cork’ campaign in the run up to the football final.

Most Improved Poster: Edmund take a bow. Also call of the year for Roma’s abilities last season.

Bitterest Poster: Again Naff for reckoning United are worse off without RVN despite the evidence telling otherwise.

Team of the Year: The Cork Ladies Football team. A credit to our great county.

Sports person of the Year: Even though he caused us great pain I’m going to say Dan ‘the man’ Shanahan. Didn’t lower himself to the level of his despicable team mate Eoin Kelly.

Poster of the Year
Close call between Lamps & Ho Chi but Lamps just edges it on all round sporting knowledge.

Phrase of the year: ‘maturing as a forum’

Quote of the year: “Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day” Don’t know where it originated but kudos all same.

POL will always be the master for the WUM for me. Some of his efforts this year have been huge, WUMMING outside of the box as it were. I think we all know which ones I am referring to.

When he gets it right, its pretty much unstoppable and quickly snowballs into 50 page self perpetuating entity.

I have my "serious" football discussions offline these days.

I had this epic conversation with a bunch of Italians, Greeks and French up in the Well during the summer where rather than my views on the game eliciting ridicule, rather, people seemed interested in what I was saying and these were guys that seriously knew their stuff, including one bona fide Ultra. I'll admit to have being a bit wary of getting into a conversation with actual match going football fans but I held my own.

Every "bumslapper" of my acquaintance has experience of absolutely unreal personal abuse received purely on the grounds that they were Utd fans. Myself, I was greeted with two morons doing kung fu kicks on Utd fans as they came in the classroom door after Cantona.

Any Utd fan worth his socks should take a "them" and "us" attitude to football given the warped glee taken in every piece of bad news surrounding the club. End of story.

Most Underrated Poster of the Year: ebeneezer. knows his stuff and constantly comes out with classic quips which often go un-noticed.

The perpetual General Mick Collins trophy for Idiocy: Liam. no contest.

Thread of the Year: Would have been the love-in thread, but that got deleted just as it looked like it would become the all-time biggest and greatest thread in the history of the proc, but it wasn't in the SF, so I'm going to go with the rugby thread that got deleted. It had jocks running for cover left, right and centre and almost resulted in the banning of the best posters on the board.

Rattledom of the Year: Whoever ratted the lads out to admin, emurf(???). Or Carmona's melt down from being a decent poster into a raving pro-manyoo lunatic.

Sport/Event most exposed by the SFI: Arland. Shoulder to shoulder me hole. As predicted.

Jock Of the year: They kind of all melt into one, but I think EddieB usually takes things in a good spirit.

Bumslapper of the Year: Kola, by a street. A caricature of a manyoo fan.

Vice Like Psychological Grip of the Year: MON over Kola

Post of the Year: had forgotten about it until someone else nominated it, but Protzov's post on drugs in cycling was immense. Clued in and no bullshit, made for a very good read and I actually came away from the thread feeling more knowledgable on the subject.

Most Improved Poster: HappyMonday has matured beyond all previous benchmarks of maturity. A top poster on rogger and bumslapping, special mention to ebeneezer.

Bitterest Poster: Rebel Yell.

Team of the Year: Sligo. Beat fook all, but their first senior provincial championship in donkey's years (26?) is not to be sniffed at.

Sports person of the Year: Dan Shanahan. brilliant player who consistently was the difference between winning and losing.

Poster of the Year Lamps - broad ranging knowledge on a multitude of sports. Able to cut through the hype to see the reality of most situations. enjoyable to read and a match for all comers.

Poster with greates ability to wind up glory hunters in 1 post: POL, quite simply the master. Threads in which he's stuck with it resemble wastelands by the time the thread winds up, with slain bumslappers and jocks everywhere.

People not nominated who deserve some kind of award for consistent good posting...ADC, StevieG, Coin and Rebelred (there's two , isn't there? The good one)

We've had our differences but I appreciate the wumming, he is quite funny too which helps

Anyway, I think the key to a good wum is the ability to suspend reality for a few posts or to make such an outrageous or out of character comment that it makes the wumee think, "did he really say that"

To be a good wum, you must have no shame.

The perpetual General Mick Collins trophy for Idiocy: Liam.
and anyone who thinks otherwise knows nothing about idiocy.

Thread of the Year:
I'm going to nominate a few..

Lambogate. It mightn't have been in the Sports forum but it was about sports cars so it's good enough for me.
...pwnage on an epic scale, if ever there was an example of a user getting destroyed in one thread then that is it. ...to become effectively a dead man walking as a user afterwards with the ammunition supplied to others. A lesson to all to get out when up to your knees in shit.

'Best premiershit 11 who have never played for the "big" 4' was a beauty.

The Everton boys do good work, ..a good read even if I don't post in it too much.

I like the La Liga thread, It's evidence of growing interest in the Spanish game as an alternative to the Premier League.

Megatron's GAA threads are a good update of what's going on clubwise.

Sport/Event most exposed by the SFI:
..can someone insert the gif with the star trek fella with the furrowed brow.

Jock Of the year:
cantankerous fought the good fight, ..don't know if he won it or not, but he turned up for battle.

Bumslapper of the Year:
gotta be Kola
..although StevieG's loss of control with the United pictures in the sporting photos thread almost did enough to snatch the award in one evening.

Vice Like Psychological Grip of the Year: Philby over Kola in one exchange where the argument had to be droped after much harassment.

Post of the Year:
just read the cycling one there earlier.. good stuff.

Parkergate again... http://www.peoplesrepublico fcork.com/~peoplesr/forums/showpost.php?p=14018 74&postcount=1
stunning.

Most Improved Poster:
Lamps. shows good potential.

Bitterest Poster:
aside from various SFNE, ..Sound seems to be growing a wee chip on the shoulder. Seems to be on the defensive a lot.

...the strains of the Rafolution?

but apparently he has influence, so he's great too.

Most regressed poster:
Dr Kola. It was a bit of a meltdown ...but with much self-awareness. so it has been good entertainment.

..perhaps it's down to the strains of the PhD

Team of the Year:
The Irish cricket team. no question. This lot were outstanding, and would be worthy winners of such an award internationally.

A genuine team effort where the output is greater than the sum of the parts.

Sportsperson of the Year: hmmm, no one stands out.
..Federer perhaps, Drogba with a little spill over from 2006. Trent Johnstone.

Sports event of the year:
Rugby world cup, I dislike rugby but it was quality. ..good matches, the little guys did well. Ireland were shit.

Sports disappointment of the year:
The cricket world cup, (Ireland aside), ..poorly organised, poorly attended, too long, one-sided, ..and an absolutely dreadful final.
United's injuries in april-may.

Sporting highlights of the year:
The last 3 overs of Ireland-Zimbabwe game. Sport at it's very best when everything ended up in the melting pot. ..sublime moments.

..winning the league. 7-1

Chokers of the year:
close between Ireland, the NY Mets and Lewis Hamilton
..were Ireland ever that good? .no.

Best newcomer/Rookie of the year:
RonnyB. great stuff, a good knowledge and good memory for the stats.

King of the rebuttal: StevieG
...will produce a previous post to rebutt a bit of nonsense or possible wum. ..It must be some form of bookmarking or such database.
Top stuff.

Poster with the longest threads
A tie between Kola and ho chi

Poster with the shortest threads:

Poster of the Year
I'm gonna go for two seperate ones due to the timings involved, so in Argentinian style..

Apertura: Philby, thought he was spot on in the start of the year, ..high quality posts which stood out for me.
Clausura: Lamps, post-retirement the percentage of posts based actually on sport must have jumped about tenfold (from about 5% to 50% I'd say) and top quality.

Phrase of the year: matured as a...

The perpetual General Mick Collins trophy for Idiocy: Coin toss, Kola vs Liam.

Thread of the Year: I quite liked the insight certain posters had about the Billy Morgan/county board situation.

Rattledom of the Year: emurph ratting the lads out and nearly getting us banned

Sport/Event most exposed by the SFI: The Irish Rugby World cup dream.

Jock Of the year: Sound for being a genuine fan.

Bumslapper of the Year: Kola. Too frequently delirious to be a WUM.

Vice Like Psychological Grip of the Year: Probably Lamps over Kola, but kind of a mismatch.

Post of the Year: Protzov on drugs in cycling was phenomenal.

Most Improved Poster: Edmund, turned the corner, made the leap etc.

Bitterest Poster: Annie Hall for supporting Kerry!

Team of the Year: Erin's Own for winning the county missing half their team.

Sports person of the Year: Seanie Farrell, the man's been through a lot this year.

plus the big one

Poster of the Year
