They deserve to be there. I was embarressed listening to those gowls on setanta the other day after they beat France. Irish commentators saying it was a "tragedy that England won, they didn't deserve to be there"..etc etc BEGRUDGING FAWKERS THE LOT OF THEM.
Irish rugby is back where it always belonged in the past....the 'above mediocre section'. I'd three bets in this WC. One for France to beat Ireland, one for Ireland not to qualify from group.....and alas the All Blacks to win outright. Anyways i divert.
There's going to be a great atmosphere in the pubs here and id imagine roughly half will be South Africans. I've never met a more arrogant shower of fawkers in my life. Their women have no sense of humour either. All the 'neutrals' will be behind the english. I've a funny feeling there might even be a row..........last saturday one of them called my friend "an english bum". He very nearly exploded as he is Welsh.
Roll on saturday............ Swing low sweet chariots............ ........

Hope South Africa win, as they are the better team.
Also, any self respecting Irishman could not seriously support England in anything...not because of any hatred from the past, but because they will always be the big island across the water and we all hope that we can be as good as them in major sports...that's why we don't want them to do so well ...call it small country syndrome :)
Mind you, if they do win it , you could not begrudge guys like Wilko...
I think SA will do it though...their pack is one of only 3 who could match Ashton's crew, and I think Habana and Percy will do the rest...
Another thing, anyone notice the similarity between Ashton and Brian Cody ??? Stick a baseball cap on Ashton and they could be twins :)

Sure I am...3 of those would be my local teams, and the other I've supported since the age of Five...If I was a bandwagoneer I would have supported Liverpool instead of Man Utd in 1978...
I do not support British national sides out of principle...England, Wales or Scotland, not because of any 'hatred' but perhaps because it was ingrained in me from a very young age...family history etc.
As for the gays, well, I do have certain views on some sections of them, but 'hate' is not the correct word...more a dislike of some of their unnatural poncy mannerisms and unmanly behaviour ...once again, instilled from an early age...
I have matured in my views as much as I ever will at this stage...

Serious fence sitting on this one now. South Africa have been the better team since the last World Cup, but the way England so abruptly changed their level of play two games ago is quite remarkable.
So as long as the better team on the day wins, I'll be happy.
Nice to see how far Lamps and Pol have come over the length of this tournament, from turning their backs on fellow Corkmen for the mortal sin of not playing for a non-existant 26-county Ireland to actually supporting England. My, how they have matured. They'll be wanting to join the Commonwealth next!

The likes of Sky jumped right off the rugby bandwagon and barely mentioned this World Cup a few weeks ago, it's not like the soccer where a win over Estonia is shoved down everyones troats

Sit down POL will ya. You're going to do yourself an injury.
Me, I'll be going for the boys in Green and yellow by about 16 points or so. Might have a few bob on em. I'll keep you posted.
If you believe in fairy tales - and there were many people in Ireland who thought we actually had a chance of winning the Rugby World Cup - then you have to admire the indomitable spirit of an English side who have picked themselves up off the floor to get where they are now.
If we as a nation are ever going to be taken seriously then we have to praise whoever wins a potentially cracking World Cup Final - and not just South Africa because they happen to be the team who are playing England.

I'm hoping for a South Africa win. Not out of a hatred for the English or a love of the South African's but because South Africa are the much more attractive team to watch. But in fairness England are able to do a job. This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Jonny Jonny shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that shows his support with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in Ireland now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That supported us upon world cup final day.

You have to laugh at the cheek of the Munstershire brigade to even suggest that England are boring after thier own showers efforts in the Heino Cup for the last 10 years, Munstershire, the Jack Charlton of Rugby, g'wan rog, kick for the corner there like a good lad
It brought success in 2006 as European Champions for Munster - no problem there or with England playing to their strenghts to win at the weekend.
France even tried it and failed against England.
Good Luck England.

You should have put at least double your initial bet on England to maximise your potential payout. But who am i, i had the All Blacks from the off.
