Useless prick with your gesturing excuses every time you waste another easy chance (like tonight:twice). Shoulda been pulled off at half-time but he seems to be undroppable under every manager he's played.
Been living on past achievements for about three or four years now.

Maybe he should wear his Spurs jersey underneath the Irish one.

It might work.

But how many of those goals were scored against the 'top level' international sides?
Quality against Lichtenstein ..... but against the likes of Holland, Portugal etc he is generally nowhere to be seen

I know Germany and Spain in the World Cup in 02 and Holland in a friendly - if memory serves me right - but if you look at the main jist of his goals for Ireland, too many are scored against the 'lesser' nations ie hat-tricks against against Lichtenstein, 2 against Latvia etc but not enough against the 'top level' nations

I don't have the figure off hand but I'm guessing of his 31 international goals - I'd say he is barely into double figures when it comes to goals against the top level nations

I may be wrong on the matter but that is just my opinion - that he doesn't score enough against the top-level nations

he's barely into double figures in games against top level sides.

he's scored against Holland TWICE! ..also in WC qualifier in Amsterdam.

I'd say his record is fairly consistent against whatever opposition, where do you draw the line at top level sides Czechs, Swedes, Turkey, Yugoslavia?

If anyone wants to do the maths and ratios related to National team rankings, fire away..

Granted I hold my hands up - it seemed like he played a lot more games against the 'top-level' nations then he actually has done.
And by 'top level' nations I mean - (from that list) France, Portugal, Germany, Spain, Turkey at that time, Holland, Sweden and the Czechs.

Maybe I should have said the big occasions instead of 'top-level' nations.
Against France and the Swiss in Dublin in the last WCQ would fall into that bracket then.
But then again maybe there is too much expected of him and Duff for that matter when they play for Ireland, and if they have a bad game / don't score over a couple of games then some people will start to question them

But whatever way you look at it - it is hard to argue that 31 goals in 76 games is a pretty good record to have at international level - for a country like ourselves.

Ah leave the lad alone, ya he's a whining bastard most of the time true enough but he's never been a good finisher, he makes an awful lot though and always has. think like BOD in the rugby he's taken on too much with the captaincy and tries way too hard, but that wasn't his decision.

would ya leave him out of the team in fairness???

That said, I feckin hate his whinging.

Maybe Robbie Keane would perform better for Ireland if some of his team-mates had a football brain. Apart from Andrew Reid, the players are simply not on Keane's wavelength.

I agree.

Half of scoring goals is the confidence and his is low at the moment. When he had the first chance against Lehmann he was looking up for someone to pass it to at the back post.

I dont like his whinging but at least he always runs his bollocks off.

Not great but better than what we have

The same could be said for half that team and Robbie Keane has had least been in good club form

Keane has always been shocking when it comes to one on ones, shocking. Whenever he ends up in a situation where he's put under pressure he gets caught in two minds, and invariably picks the least effective possible option. The lad has nothing upstairs in footballing terms, but I'd also put a lot of it down to poor coaching throughout his career.
