I think the series is great!

First 2 live shows are superb - the others aren't as good.

Bit of a hero of mine too.

In this electrifying autobiography, Rik stands naked in front of his vast legions of fans and disciples and invites them to take communion with the blood he has spilled for them during his thirty year war on show business. He invented alternative comedy with "The Young Ones", he brought down the Thatcher administration with "The New Statesman" and he changed the face of global culture with his masterpiece "Bottom". Not only was his number one single 'Living Doll' the saviour of rock 'n' roll but he also rescued the British film industry with the vast revenues created by his legendary movie "Drop Dead Fred". In 1998, he survived an assassination attempt and spent five days in a coma before he literally came back from the dead. Having completed countless phenomenal feature films, TV series, live extravaganzas and radio voice-overs since then, Rik Mayall is now poised on the brink of a whole new epoch-shattering revolution. For the first time ever, Rik reveals in print the deep inner truth behind his gargantuan ascent to the pinnacle of international light entertainment - the mental hospitals he has broken out of, the television executives he has assaulted, the drugs he has definitely not taken, the charities he has bankrupted, the countless pregnancies he has engendered, and so much more.

You're right - Don't think I ever heard Rik moan on - mind you don't think he went around telling fibs about turning water into Rioja - and getting a good flogging for it.

I think Gas is my favourite episode.
Richie stuck in the bed between Mr Rottweiler and his bird, shushing Eddie... It cracks me up everytime.

I never got it. My best bud loves all the same stuff I do, but I just don't get this. He laughs and nearly vomits when Mayall continuously whacks the bald guy repeatedly for, like, twenty minutes. Now, I like my absurdity, but that's just boring...

Where am I going wrong?

"The young ones" was amazing and stilll stands the test of time! And Rik Mayel is still a comedy legand in my eyes

I loved Bottom in its Day, It was way ahead of its time, alternative comedy, gross out humour. I think that kind of comedy is ten a penny these days so its kind of lost its appeal for me.
The movie spin off, about the guesthouse was quite possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen, a complete sell out I felt from Rik and Adrian.Adrian Edmondson is in a new sitcom on the ITV at the moment, Teenage kicks, and thats another prime example of selling out, he plays the a retired rocker dad who moves into his kid student house *cringe*
