For Christ sake, we've a fucking all-Ireland to win on the 16th against our next door neighbours, and driving around the place would you see a red and white flag anywhere?

Would you fuck.

Come on to fuck, get behind the rebels, we're supposed to be the best fans in the country. I was driving along yesterday and this cunt in a red t-shirt was cycling along with the slogan "Irish By Birth, Munster By The Grace of God" on the back of it.

It was all I could do not to knock the fucker down.

I drove through Kilbehenny last week, and it was festooned with green and white flags everywhere.

We're an embarrassment.

We're in an All-Ireland final. Jesus, Fairview was plastered with blue flags when the Dubs were in the semi-final, and they have more soccer fans then anywhere else, but they still backed their city and county. Sometimes I think we don't deserve our sportsmen.

Is that the new thing now so?

Well, there's no "I" in TEAM!!

You're from Cork, you don't have a choice, put up that flag, and if you don't have one, borrow one from one of your Polish neighbours.

Watch whatever "game" is important to you on the 15th, but put up your flag, that's all.

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all

Inside of me

I'd put a flag up but I'm afraid Pol and Lamps will come round and paint BANDWAGONER on my house.

I would say that only those who attended all home league games and at least one away league game should be allowed to put up flags. Your match tickets for said games should be displayed outside your house in a place easily visible from a public thoroughfare for a period of not less than 1 month.

RA the last time I looked the GAA opened up Croke Park for the use of other sports. Many people within the GAA still believe Croke Park shouldnt have been opened & I think those people should have their beliefs respected.

I as it happens agree with opening it for economical reasons & I believe it could be to the GAA's benefot rather than detriment.

Soccer doesn't even get interesting until at least the end of November when the "European Let's Get More Money For The Big Clubs League," gets rid of the dross clubs who are only there because they come from countries with big TV audiences who can generate a return for the sponsors.

I see Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson, and a "friend" booked three Brazilian hookers from an escort agency and had them come to Ronaldo's €5 Million mansion to help them "celebrate" their recent victory over Tottenham.

They spent €10,000 on them.

Small time, they've gone down a lot (no pun intended) in my estimation, especially Ronaldo, after that. I see Thierry Henry walked out on his wife as well, when he went to Barcelona, his divorce was finalised on Monday.

Imagine JBM, Dinny Allen, Sean Og, Dave Barry carrying on like that.

Put out a flag.

That's what the thread is about: pride in your county's achievements. Not the intricacies of whether or not football is better or worse then soccer or what your favourite sport is.

Just a simple request: fly the flag.

You're dead right Nimic, go down to Kerry or Waterford and its flags everywhere.
Actually beyond Macroom you've as much chance of a Kerry flag as a cork one. Mockery of epic proportions that.

In Cork you have a better chance of a Munstershire flag

No bother.

Great. And if we could get a few more people to do it, then maybe, just maybe, it may start to achieve a profile, and the players may get a boost.

To everyone who is bitching about the GAA, or who are whinging about "getting hammered," I'm not asking anyone to watch the match, to go to the match, to change the channel from Sky Sports or whatever.

No. That's not what I'm asking. I'm merely appealing to Cork people everywhere to fly our colours: no matter what you think of our football team, or Billy Morgan, or anything else for that matter, these are fellow Cork people about to step into a national arena in front of the whole country and put themselves on the line for all of us.

Please don't let them down. Please don't let the rest of the country have a snigger at our expense. Please don't ignore their sacrifices, their commitment, their pride in their jersey their love of YOUR county, and their determination to add their names to this great countys roll of honour. Put aside the small timery, the division, the "chips on the shoulders," the bitterness, the jealousy, the pettiness, and for one glorious Sunday in September let's show the rest of the country why we love Cork so much.

Fly the flags, show the colours, support YOUR fellow countymen, and let's not embarrass ourselves by letting this pass unmarked. Festoon the city and county in red and white, then even if we lose, at least we can say we were proud.
