A hugh well done to the new comedy club "Skithause" now resident at the Beerhause on Popes Quay every Wednesday night. I went in last Wednesday for the opening night not expecting too much and possibly a small crowd. How wrong was I, the place was packed very tightly, with a different atmosphere from your normal run of the mill comedy club. Firstly not everybody was there for the comedy so you had people chatting to each other while the comedians were trying out their material, but this soon changed. I saw the comedians Jamie O Shea, Chris Kent, Paddy O Shea, David Duff and Johnny P work harder than they have ever done in the past, each one came off stage soaking in sweat, which is only right, way too often comedians just simply go on stage and just go through the motions of their routine. That thank God wont work at this club, the audience wont accept it. This is a great start to a new comedy club, if it continues it will prove a big challange to the comedians, and make them work, at the end of their set they just may come to understand the very reson why they got in to comedy in the 1st place. So well done to Paddy O Shea for perhaps starting something new, a comedy club which will make or break comedians and where the audience demand the very best from the comedians. Dont miss this club the"Skithause" every Wednesday night, Bill Hicks would have loved this place.
