I was heading into the game last night and what did i see only 2 paddy wagons full of lawmen in full riot regalia.I asked a guard what the story was and he curtly informed me that Hammarby had brought 400 fans with them and that they also had an affiliation with Shamrock Rovers.
Imagine my surprise when on entering the hallowed ground I spotted maybe 50 fans corralled into the 'FAMILY ENCLOSURE'
Bad Intelligence-Riot police drill or just plain old overtime for the lads?
Answers on a postcard to Union Quay Garda Station

The security was fairly tight alright for them, but it was the gardai insisting on it. Stewards are always up for European games so nothing new there.

Rovers fans meet up with them in Dublin and a few of them traveled down. There were three arrests, Hammarby fans trying to get into a pub, drunken disorderly. Five of them turned away for gates as well, too drunk. Other than that no trouble.

The Hammarby fans were sound actually and were in all the pubs near the Cross and were in town after as well. Didn't see any Rovers fans but none caused trouble anyway.

True! The family enclosure has been moved.Pardonnez moi.
Where is the main Garda station now out of interest?
Up Miahp's smart arse perhaps?

Sounds to me like you're fishing for an invite to visit. In your dreams !

Nobody here will believe that you don't know where the Garda H.Q. in Cork is !

Nah mate.I'm not anally retentive.
Anglesea Street n'est pas?
In my day we used to call it Union Quay.
Pardon the geographical transgression.

Funny though. You could walk through town at night and never see a guard.
They did resurface during the run up to the election but lately they seem to be a rarity on the streets.

I would have said the same before last night actually until i saw a guy beating up his girl friend last night. Myself and a mate intervened and your man was not happy about it, i think i came close to getting a dig off him at one stage but every time he walked away he started to push and dig her again so we had to intervene again. Then two gardai walked down the street, we told them what was going on and they dealt with it (dont know how it finished though) .... now that was good timing.

I have to say the girl is a complete tool to stay with him, she didn't try and defend herself once.
