Cork City face Swedish opposition for the third time in four years as Hammarby arrive at Turner's Cross for Saturday's Intertoto Cup 2nd Round - 1st Leg game. City will be looking to make it three from three against Swedish opposition after they saw off Djurgardens in the 2005 UEFA Cup and Malmo in the Intertoto Cup in 2004.

Referee : Romans Lajuks (Latvia)

Cork lost a marathon League Cup quarter-final to Bohemians on Tuesday night and headed back into a long trip home after two hours of football saw them lose 3-2 in extra-time. Manager Damien Richardson chose an almost full strength side for that game - resting goalkeeper Michael Devine while suspension saw him without Billy Woods and Roy O'Donovan.

And they said they would be coming for a drink and a laugh. Yeah fucking right, this had trouble written all over it. Hopefully there won't be any more trouble though, but with Rovers you'd never know.

An exciting Intertoto Cup second round first leg tie ended level at Turner's Cross as Swedish side Hammarby came from behind for a deserved 1-1 draw with Cork City.
Cork took the lead after ten minutes when man-of-the-match Colin Healy set up the chance for Roy O'Donovan to shoot past goalkeeper Erland Hellstrom.
But Healy was unlucky on 57 minutes when a De Castilho header struck the Cork midfielder and beat goalkeeper Michael Devine for the equaliser.

Cork were able to include their Republic of Ireland international midfielders Gareth Farrelly and Healy, who had made their long-awaited debuts against Bohemians in the midweek League Cup defeat in Dalymount Park.
Hammarby had progressed to this round after winning both legs for a 3-1 aggregate win over KI Klaksvik of The Faroe Isles, with Cork defeating Valur of Iceland 2-1 over two legs.
Damien Richardson's side had taken the lead in a tremendously open first half of football in which Colin Healy was outstanding in the centre of Cork's midfield.
After ten minutes he beat three defenders in a great break on the left before sending in a cross shot, which goalkeeper Erland Hellstrom fisted away, but Roy O'Donovan was on the spot to fire home from a shot from eight yards.
The visitors came more into the game with a fresh brand of open football and they drew level 12 minutes after the break.
Loyay Chanko curled a free-kick into the Cork penalty area and Chamon De Castilho's header struck the body of the unlucky midfielder Healy to wrong foot Devine and level the match.
With the match level and Hammerby scoring an away goal it is certainly going to be difficult for Cork to progress in next Saturday afternoon's second leg in Stockholm.
CORK CITY: Devine; Horgan, Kelly, Murray, Woods; O'Donovan
Gamble, Farrelly, Healy, Gamble, Kearney, O'Flynn.
Substitutes; Sweeney for O'Flynn 65 mins, Murphy for
Farrelly 70, Lordan for Kelly 82.
HAMMARBY: Helstrom; D Johansson, Monteiro, E Johansson,
Chanko, Sleyman, Eguren, Davies, Laitinen, De Castilho,
Castro-Tello.
Substitutes; Gunnarrsson for Castro-Tello 73, Juliusson for
De Castilho 85, Jensen for Davies 90.
Referee: Romans Lajuks(Latvia).

I wasn't sure if you were taking the piss or not. Healy was fucking brilliant alright definitely a class above the rest, i can't wait to see him in action for the rest of the season, if only FIFA weren't a bunch of retarded bastards with stupid fucking rules this unreal talent would have been playing from the start of the season.

I think the FAI knew that, hence the role they played in all of this, or more to the point, the role they didn't play. And these guys now run the league.

Total lack of compromise on domestic fixtures as well, traveling all over the country while we are in Europe for games that could easily be rearranged. Given that other sides expressed willingness but were then silenced.

And i thought the opposition last night was only going to be from Sweden, who needs enemies when you have the FAI.
