..

Place all your heart felt good wishes to your Limerick cousins here..

Sing it up boys!!!!

Limerick your a Lady not an auld whore..

Limerick you're a lady
your Shannon waters tears of joy that flow
The beauty that surrounds you
Ill take it with me love where-e'er I go
While waking in the arms of distant waters
a new day finds me far away from home
And Limerick you're my lady
the one true love that I have ever known

As children you and I spent endless days of fun
In winter's snow or summer's golden sun
We fished in silver streams, the fabric of our dreams
Was fashioned by your loveliness and so I have to say:

Chorus
Limerick you're a lady
your Shannon waters tears of joy that flow
The beauty that surrounds you
Ill take it with me love where-e'er I go
While waking in the arms of distant waters
a new day finds me far away from home
And Limerick you're my lady
the one true love that I have ever known

The difference time has made, to travellers on their way
Seeking out the beauty of our lands
At shrines the children play, and bells ring out to say
Thank God we're living just to feel the freedom of each day

Chorus

While walking in the arms of distant waters
A new day finds me far away from home
And Limerick you're my lady
the one true love that I have ever known

Comeooonnnn Limerick you can do it no problem ....... To the brave and the faithfull nothing is impossible

Good man Redshirter. We need some more of that kind of talk..

Maybe another rousing song might get them going.. We could have a sing song

Sad are the homes round Garryowen
Since they lost their joy and pride
And the banshee cry links every vale
Around the Shannon side that city of the ancient walls
the broken treaty stone, undying fame surrounds your name, Sean South from Garryowen

T'was on a dreary New Years Eve
As the shades of night came down
A lorry load of volunteers approached the border town
There were men from Dublin and from Cork, Fermanagh and Tyrone
And the leader was a Limerick man - Sean South from Garryowen

As they moved along the street up to the barracks door
They scorned the danger they might face
Their fate taht lay instore
They were fighting for old Ireland to clim their very own

And the foremost of that gallant band
Was South from Garryowen
But the seargent spied their daring plan
He spied them trough the door
The Sten guns and the rifles a hail of death did pour
And when that awful night had passed
Two men lay cold a s stone
There was one from near the border twn and one from Garryowen

No more wil he hear the seagull's cry
Over the murmurring Shannon tide
For he fell beneath a Northern sky brave Hanlon by his side
They have gone to join that gallant band
Of Plunkett, Pearse and Tone
A martyr for old Ireland
Sean South from Garryowen

You do realise he wasn't from Garryowen at all, like?

That eejit Seán South aside, I'll associate myself with these sentiments. The Da's from Limerick and they've always been my second team behind Cork.

Duignan got it spot on yesterday. When Kelly came out midfield they should have left him out there alone.

Partly agree.

Limerick should have brought out one of their own full forward line.

They couldn't let Waterford have an extra man in that part of the field because getting the better of the scrappy exchanges in there were what kept them in touch up to then.

Anyway, I'm hopeful that Waterford's goal-scoring touch might mean they'd live with Kilkenny and better them come the crunch. If Cork can't win back their crown, least Waterford winning it would be good and great for the championship.

I hope Limerick get stuffed out of it soon though.

Was hoping Limerick would win yesterday. The hurling championship needs an underdog wiining (not at Corks expence mind) a big game. Also I cant stand Waterford.

Yes, I'm sure Limerick's brand of hurling would appeal to a bogballer such as yourself.

They're a disgrace. Delighted to see the better hurling side win out.

In better conditions Limerick would have gotten cleaned out by more.

"Waterford are looking fairly rattled at the moment":)

luckily for them, they didn't look badly rattled

Limerick looked understandably tired as the game wore on

In Ancient Cork, the plebs were the general body of the Kola family, distinct from the privileged class of the patricians. A member of the plebs was known as a plebeius. The term is used more commonly today to refer to one who is in the lower class, or who appears to be, but on the Sports Forum, plebeians could become quite rattled.

TBT it must be painful seeing good hurlers like Mark Foley and Ollie Moran trying to win but have junior standard hurlers like Mike O'Brien and Barry Foley hindering their efforts.

Mike O'Brien was much better than Ollie Moran yesterday.

The difference between the teams was Dan Shanahan.

Waterford were the better team and deserved the win.

The thing that'll win Waterford an All Ireland is their ability to come strong in injury time and its what makes a great team. They did it against Cork in the semi and in the league semi. They couldnt do this in years gone by but J Mac has got them primed now.

Their full back line is a weakness though and I think John Allen was right when he said yesterday that Waterford arent as good as Cork yet. Should make for an interesting last 8.

They came good yesterday because there was a gulf in class.

Credit to Limerick for putting it up to them but on a dry day the gap would have been more than nine points.

It's quite simple. A gent such as myself can appreciate good hurling (and otherwise) regardless of the tribalism. I even raised myself for the odd polite clap for the rare bits of good play from a plucky if outclassed Offaly side on Saturday afternoon.

I would not expect a countyman of Damian Reale to grasp the concept at all. :p

Few head high challenges yesterday as well....

the game went exactly as i expected.. limericks hard hurling and heart was never going to be enough to take them all the way. smarter better hurlers will generally win out.. credit to limerick though, it was a really good quick game of ball and a joy to watch

tbt- i wouldnt agree that shanahan was the difference between the sides... bar midfield, i thought limerick were out hurled in just about every position..

beat the shite out of the rubbish served up as football in roscommon beforehand

if cork and waterford meet again it will be unbeleivable stuff.. 1-2 points will seperate them as i think waterfords defence is a little shakey but the cork half forwards dont inspire me a whole lot

Ollie Moran (player of the month) had his quietest game of the championship.
Who kept him quiet?

yeah maybe their defence deserves a bit more credit.. i reckon as the championship progresses they might be shown up a little.. moran wa probably knackered after the replays considering his performances

i see probs with our half forward line containing pa cronin and hero as starters

i thought mullane hurled as well as ive ever seen him yesterday

one thing that we need to note is that waterford are playing at their peak at the minute, they cant get any better that how the played against limerick or us, but we have more in the tank, and with our fulll team we can beat them, how much more we have in the tank is the question, is it enough to take the cats?

Waterford at their peak? They only played for 10 minutes against against Limerick & the full back line were terrible against Cork. Plenty of room for improvement I'd say.

Ye're not at ye're peak but the full back line was bad as well Sunday. Lucky thing Barry Foley showed the touch of a rapist when given a chance.

If it was a certain yellow helmet clad no. 15 south of Limerick that got that oppertunity it would have been buried.
