Having openly admitted he knows nothing about sport bar MUTV related material( and is proud of it). I think its time to open up a thread to enlighten everyone's favourite mensa member.

I'll kick things off.

You can't compare Gaelic Football and soccer in like for like terms.
Long kicking and high fielding are considered the traditional and most aesthetically pleasing skills in the game. In soccer this would probably be the opposite.

The AUL is NOT the highest stanard of soccer in Cork.

I'll add to this as needs be. Back on that course for now

I genuinely have very little interest in sport outside of Utd. Maybe Cork hurlers.

Never watch Question of Sport.

Find Jimmy Magee a bit sad.

You needn't bother.

This is your official nibble on this thread. Best of luck with it.

fair enough, but stop spewing garbage all over other 'non-interest' threads in this forum and follow fitzy into the girls aloud forum.

I will.

If the likes of yourself stay off the Utd threads.

Frankly, the biggest case of ownership in the history of the PROC was delivered on your collective sorry ass by SAF this season.

From predictions of Utd failing to qualify for the CL to struggling for goals without Ruud to Ronaldo being a waster to Ferdinand not being up to leading a defence to Vidic and Evra not being good enough to Carrick being a waste of money.

I think this is a runner.

Outside of quality posters like Sound, Mon etc, knuckle-dragging begrudgers such as yourself can stay off the Utd threads outright?

Sure, ye only end up working yourselves into a tizzy. Not good for the health.

I'd be happy enough with this. Tiny "sacrifice" for me not to be posting on, say, non-soccer related threads. I figure I watch enough hurling to be able to comment there though.

talk about tryin to keep up with the lingo. "ownership" ffs.
as i said, i predicted utd would win the league if they bought 2 or 3 players in the proper positions, this was at a time when you thought the sky was going to fall on old trafford. remember? do keep up.

i didn't say utd would struggle for goals without ruud, i defended him as a great goalscorer for utd and pointed out shortmemories amongst your kind when ye were "glad he's gone".

as for ferdinand, i still think he's overrated, and certainly not worth the huge fee. i haven't really commented on vidic becuase i've only seen him for one season but thought it odd that you knew soooo much about him soooo soon, even though you now admit you don't really watch football.

haven't made much comment on carrick other than he the type of player they needed to sign to win the league. way overpriced but it done the trick.

ronaldo, ive alway said has great potential but was way way overrated. i gave him his dues this season and said he's improved 300% and has gone some way towards meeting the hype. still a cheating cunt though.

i have a keen interest in utd and i certainly seem to know a lot more about them than you.

where's the owning you fuckin goldfish?

Well, since we're in the business of making wild, unsubstantiated claims like your bit in bold, why not. Yes, you're "owned" big time. FACT and other such gibberish.

How do you propose to back up your claim that you'd know more about Utd than me?

Seriously, this place is infested with the same breed of fuckwit that were "geniuses" at Sports quizzes.

If you know every winner of a horse race since 1986, that's not something to be boasting about to your friends, real or imaginary.

There is a difference between the type of person who knows results and players for the year dot and people who are genuinely interested in one or two type of sports. It happens that some people have a good head for those useless facts. We were simply trying to discuss Sundays match and you appeared with your personal vendetta against Billy Morgan. You then proceed to say you only had interest in Man United. It takes all sorts I suppose.

Kola,

I knew you'd turned when you "lol"ing and using smilies on here.

Sports Forum rules dictate you should only lol when you actually are genuinely loling. Anything else is mockery. It's not a phrase to trot out willy nilly. We cut a sharper cloth than that round here.

I don't think all is lost but I do think you need a repatriation ceremony. You can start by letting the hair on your balls grow back.

I started with a very simple comment about the lack of technical ability of players like Anthony Lynch.

I make no apologies for not following the ugly sister code of GAA but I watch enough football codes to know a good footballer when I see one. Be they rugby backs, soccer players or Gaelic footballers.

A guy that can't solo a ball cannot possibly be in the best 15 players in the county.

Regardless of how good he is at blocking down.

My train of thought moved from there to Morgan as the manager. He's the guy picking someone like that.

Now, in fairness to Morgan, I understated the improvement from Tompkins days. I'd forgotten that there was a period in his reign where I just had to switch off from watching Cork, they were a disgrace. Things have improved. I do think he should be a bit more measured on the sideline. Aside from that, using second hand views on the man (whatever the source) is unfair, so the other arrows I fired off in his direction I'll concede were undue.

KK, Billy isn’t the only selector. I did admit that it wasn’t the best game for lynch so we’ll leave it at that. It’s just saying Cork are a million miles off Kerry in terms of skill is inaccurate. Defending is also a skill, as is highfielding as the lads said and loads and loads of other things in football. Soccer as a game is different. So it would be like comparing cricket to hurling. If you can prove to me, besides Lynch, whom we’ll agree to disagree on, that the Cork team are unskilful then maybe your argument might hold up. But I don’t think you can….

Back to Pubes re-education 101, stop using soccer to judge gaelic football. Are you slow or something.

That's fair enough. Fielding is definitely an important skill.

However, I still reckon basic control of a football and passing with the foot is the key skill. I thought some of Masters' kicking at the weekend was excellent. Like I say, I'm not a big follower of the footballers so I wouldn't be familiar enough with individuals to name names but I saw some terrible misplaced passes and wides from Cork on Sunday.

Unless I was just imagining it.
