I'd rate any of the top quality GAA matches ahead of international events when it comes to great moments. Some of the skill and displays we've seen from our own games is something to be very proud of.

Fuck sake I can see it now come the end of year reviews that Shane Horgan's try will be replayed til we're sick of it when Michael Cussen & Donaghy catch the ball for fun in most games and will turn and put it over the ball.

Probably a toss up between the Grand Slam of '49 and the invasion of Cardiff in '06.

Although I have to say, O'Driscoll's hattrick against France in Paris could be a contender too.

I'm a bit biased here, but I'd go for Roche winning the TdeF and the WC especially as I was at the latter and jumped the barrier at the end and congratulated him. Till the day I die I won't forget Roche looking at me and thinking Who the fuck is this bloke?, cos the only others there were his da and his manager, so he thought he should kinda know me. That feeling will be hard to beat.

Celtic stopping the 10 in a row was more important than that, even on a political level, it brought the peace process forward by 5 years

Eamonn Coughlin winning Gold in the 5000M (I think). But anyway, I'll never forget the aul fist clinching as he went past the Russian before coming into the home stretch. Pure legendary, a true Irish International star at a time of so few.

My Dad often talked of him, but how about Dr Pat O'Callaghan (RIP) winning back to back Golds in the hammer at the '28 and '32 Olympics. And he a Cork feen too. Could you imagine such a feat in today's world and the hype around the final day and final rounds of him retaining Gold...

Penalty Shoot 1990
Plus Sonia O Sullivan does'nt really get the credit she deserves but she's had loads of great moments, some might remember her for fucking up in Atlanta or coming second in Sydney but she's possibly the only irish sportsman/women to have been consistently the best in the world.

Got a much better one of Villach '87 - you can see how Roche is trying to set it up for Kelly. Sets the pace up the last hill - chases others and eventually wins himself. Gotta love Kelly raising both arms aloft though. After coming 4th or 5th once again in a W.C.
