the next three will be between Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs as usual
With possibly Everton and Villa the best of the rest

Jesus, I dunno about the prediction that Arsenal will win the league.
Have you not heard that they lost the "one man" in their "one man team" this summer? :P
You're full of it Naff, right up until May, Arsenal showed no sign of being able to make a league challenge this coming season.
It will take a miracle.

Arsenal will improve in my opinion and will be closer to Man United and Chelsea and possibly ahead of Liverpool
I don't think the loss of Henry was a bad thing ultimately and i think they have got a decent replacement
he must mean a combination of Arsenal and Chelsea. Like, if you add their points totals together.

De Souza might be the answer to Arsenal's prayers but that team would have been nowhere over the past 5/6 years without Thierry Henry.
The last time Arsenal weren't shite, Henry was flying. He's the man that made them tick. There hasn't been a player more important to a title winning side since Alan Shearer.
Naff has also been trying to sell the pup that is Fabregas when Arsenal still haven't replaced the dynamism Vieira gave them in his prime.
You could argue that Utd similarly haven't replaced Keane but the rather critical difference is that Utd won a league title last year without him whereas Arsenal were pathetically off the pace from September.

 Only a fool would even attempt such a thread before the first week of August and most of the transfer business is done.
For all we know, Utd's summer transfers could be a preamble to selling Ronaldo to Madrid for umpteen million just before the transfer window shuts. Drogba could pick up a season threatening injury in the charity shield. Gerrard, Torres and Carragher could all get injured.
Then, if all the above happened, Arsenal might be in with a shout of proving you right! :D

My problem with Van Persie is that regardless of the talent the guy has, he has bad character.
I've been convinced of that since watching him early on playing league cup football against Utd and he threw the strop to end all strops and made Kieron Richardson look like a mature and sober individual.
You can't rely on guys like that at the very top level.

I watched a good bit of Arsenal last year and while impressed by their football the killer instinct is lacking badly.
Also the way Chelsea pissed all over them in the 2nd half of the Emirates with 10 men showed me that they have a long way to go to challenge Chelsea & United.
I think the array of talent Arsenal have in midfield make the squad they have stronger than it looks. I'd fear for them if Toure or Gallas get injured if they were in a title fight.

pissed all over westham? the most one sided loss of all time i reckon. cant remember a game in modern football where a team destroyed the opposition and lost.
Its funny how both managers after the game said the same thing.
Arsene, i dont understand how we lost that game. we should have one it at least 10-1
Curbs, how did we win that game? we should have lost it 10-1.
Whats worrying about arsenals front line is the two goal scoring strikers are left footers. Id prefer a mix.
Theres no way arsenal can put down another season like last one. Not a hope. They hit the cross bar in more games than some teams scored for the whole season.
If arsenal had played shit last year id be nervous this season. But they didnt. They lacked goals. They didnt lack goal attempts, passing, leaked at the back. They lacked goals. Weird for an arsenal team. Fabregas being the total summation of the season. How man chances did he see saved, hit a post, crossbar, fumble, just wide, just over. That will be put right.
Arsenal for my money played the best football ive seen from them under wenger. That bolton game in the first half was the greatest performance from a team i ever saw. The secondhalf and extra time showed where our season went haywire, two penalty misses, two open goal misses, two off the post, one off the crossbar, 3 side nettings.
it was bizarre.

Alot of people are putting Villa in the top 8. What's the story with that?
Couple of handy young players alright but I wouldn't rate them that highly.
The signing of reo-coker is average enough, they need some attack minded midfielders. Defence wasn't their problem last season.

3 Lverpool

1. Utd
2. Liverpool
3. Chelsea
4. Arsenal
Arsenal might nick 3rd but I wouldn't hold my breath.
I think Chelsea were hanging on to Utd's coattails on memory last year and should really have been well out of it but for a string of fortuitous wins.
They rarely played top quality football and were heavily reliant on Drogba and Lampard for goals. I don't think their signings so far this summer suggest that they will be able to up it a gear next year.
Many seem to have bought Mourinho's sob story about injuries. It's just bollocks. He's been asked to bring in players that weren't on Fergie's shortlist that Kenyon brought with him from Utd and he's struggled terribly. Sidwell, Pizarro, Cole?
What the fuck is he thinking?
The Cole signing is pure gibberish. He dumps Wayne Bridge to play a guy who's a good attacking full back but decidedly average defensively when his whole tactic relies on a rock-solid back four?
Rather than dropping one of Ballack and Lampard, he attempts to play both and totally unbalances his team. I'm not sure the guy understands forward play at all. He's just a sports scientist hoping that if he gets his players fit enough the rest will fall into place.
I'm sure they'll be there or thereabouts but I'm inclined to think that they just don't have the footballers to live with Utd (certainly), Liverpool (this time out) and Arsenal (pity about the finishing) going forward. I think Joe Cole is about the only Chelsea forward with a touch of class about his play.
They'll talk a lot of shite from now til August about "winning their title back" but I'll bet about half that squad would jump at a move to a big club this summer. Even Lampard seems less than committed to the mercenaries' cause.

Again, on my topic of the morning. Roman, you have to understand something about Utd fans. Yes, we close ranks and stick up the two fingers to the rest when challenged by the likes of yourself trying to score points.
When I watch games with other Utd fans, we are the biggest critics of our own players. It's just not the done thing in "mixed" company.
I have spent much of the season on the verge of chucking the remote control at the TV because of Rooney's fucking dumbass whining and moaning at refs. Before this year, I was also a vocal critic of Ronaldo's sitting around on the floor after a dive looking for a free kick and the play sweeping up the other end of the field.
Now, in saying that, Van Persie is a much bigger fuckwit than either of those and, I believe, has a year or two on them? Why do you think that Arsenal were able to get Van Persie off Feyenoord for so little? At the time, it was reported that Feyenoord were delighted to be getting rid of him because he was a shite of a man.
One thing to be said for Ferguson, Ronaldo has improved his behaviour at Utd, Keane did, Rooney has (though he's a long way to go), even Ferdinand has (amazingly).
That can't be said for players under Wenger's charge.
Arsenal still suffer from the same streak of eejitry evident at OT in the massed assault on Ruud. Until that streak is got rid of, the squad will always underachieve.

1. United. Stronger squad than last year and there seems to be more competition for places. Only worries I have so far are with the goalkeepers.
2. Chelsea. They've only tampered a bit with their squad but injuries really hamstrung them last season (as they did United in March/April). However with Drogba going away at the turn of the year along with Essien & Mikel I think it could be fatel to their challenge.
3. Liverpool. They surely cant have the start they had season when they couldnt buy a goal away from Anfield. If Torres settles straight away I'd fancy them to knick 2nd actually but their defence cant afford to be without Carra & Agger. Injuries to them & 4th may be the best they can hope for.
4. Arsenal. I think selling Henry was the best thing that could happen if all the money for him is reinvested. They have so many good young fellas its frightening. But I think they are lacking out wide (Hleb a 1st team regular when class like Denilson & Diaby struggle to get in the team) to mount a huge challenge. Also Lehmann is too unreliable and Toure will be off in Jan as well.

Chelsea need to make some moves if they're not to fall behind Liverpool.
All Liverpool need to do is add some away form and maintain "Fortress Anfield" to move up a position.
I think it will boil down to Utd and Liverpool this year but Utd should have too much going forward.
Same as this year, you'd bank on us to batter most teams below 6th or so home and away, something that isn't true of our main rivals. That's a large part of winning any league title.
Technically, if Arsenal have found a goalscorer in DA SILVA then the same should be true of them but they are coming from a low base and you can't really predict a title challenge for them at this juncture.

PSV's goal at the Emirates comes to mind straight away.
Its not his ability that would worry me. Its his need to get involved in altercations with opponants that could lead to a costly sending off or the like.

Personally if I were a manager playing Arsenal I'd have a big lump of a fella thrown in front of Lehmann for corners or free kicks.
yeah your right, what a howler. sack him.

ps....look at the height of alex versus the arsenal defender.
look at where lehmann was heading to catch the ball.
thats weak if you consider that a howler, very weak.

I'll officially resign off from the board if Arsenal finish ahead of United this season.

this one is interesting.
And it still stands. Although I did say Arsenal will improve without Henry.
Didnt take into account Fabregas would go from scoring less a monk on retreat to scoring more than Jodie Marsh on a night out in London though.

Too early to tell if you ask me. Transfers not done & dusted ust yet.
Anyway.
1. Man Utd
2. Liverpool
3. Arsenal
4. Chelsea
I have Chelsea 4th but only if the in fighting continues. Jose could be gone by Christmas if that's the case. If not then swap them with Liverpool/Arsenal
Good call on Jose.
That would be my top four I'd chose now.
