What a stupid move that is.
Arsenal probably couldn't afford him, but i'm sure that there was interest from the top Italian teams and he should have been looking to get cl football next season.
This lad may be the next giggs in terms of lack of ambition.

Milan and inter were both interested.
it would have been folly to sign for Juve this year as they are not in the cl.

Yes, that was my point
I didn't see any speculation linking him to the Milans
I heard Liverpool were in alright but again, could be newspaper talk (they will get Malouda (sp))
I agree that he should maybe have not gone to Bayern but he may not have had much better choices

Don't get too wound up by him. Remember: he gets his footballing knowledge from Football Manager.

Arsenal surely could have offered Reyes (or some other player) and money or something like that. It was quite the fee but he's a class act so it would have been worth it in my opinion. If Ribery had turned out to be another Overmars or Pires as far as impact on the team then it would have been a fair price. The thing with Arsenal is that they seem to be able to sell these guys on after they've served the club well and still make a fair few bob (obviously not so much with Pires but definitely with Vieira, Overmars, Petit, Anelka etc.). Who's to say that they couldn't have sold Ribery onto Real or Barca at a profit in another 2 or 3 years?
It really is a strange move for him but perhaps he is being a clever bugger. This has been one of the poorest seasons in Bayern's recent history and there is almost no doubt in my mind that they will bounce back strongly. If he is seen as the catalyst behind their resurgence then his stock will skyrocket. I'd liken the situation to when Barca signed Ronaldinho after their worst season in memory. Obviously they were not going to be as bad as they had been and they signed a lot of quality players but Ronnie got most of the credit. Bayern with Toni and now Ribery will probably dominate Germany next year and these guys in all liklihood will receive the credit. It's a shame they didn't sneak a C/L spot though and what a coup for Bayern. -AmadeusDC-
