One thing about England games is it highlights what's wrong with the Premiership.

a) Hyping players up based on a few good months play.

b) The first touch. Not good enough in English players. And the lack of an assured weaker foot.

What's the fucking point of Frank Lampard?

He reminds me of Tim Cahill actually. A great goalscoring record from midfield but ultimately a limited player . How slow is he as well?

Ronaldinho had Gerrard falling over himself ...Class

Not just slow in terms of out and out pace but ponderous on the ball as well.

Disastrous quality in a central midfielder.

And they start blaming the strikers.....

What stage in this in England Game 101 again?

Yup, it's the strikers fault according to Hansen.

Orrrr, it could be to do with the midfield for England getting the run around.

The completely rigid, flat formation from England that Brazil are just playing little triangles around?

Shorey didn't have a bad game last night, it's just that he went about his business quietly and almost anonymously. There are worse people they could have had at left back.

What was really stupid was hearing Hanson and Shearer claim that England were unlucky. Brazil weren't as good as they should have been, but England were being outplayed all night and their goal came completely against the run of play.

Joleon Lescott was the clever man's choice for that position, so no surprise he was omited.

Indeed. Good shout.

England don't really have the best attacking full backs OR they won't play in such a way to get the best out of them (Cole).

They could really do worse than just go with a really big, solid back four of something like Brown, Ferdinand, Terry, Lescott.

I would say Carragher deserves to be in that back four but maybe suffers a little like Heinze at full back when up against the trickier players? Doesn't really offer anything going forward either.

I wouldn't have Carragher anywhere near a full-back berth. You're getting about 30% of him.

But he'd suffer alongside Terry as well at CB.

His lack of pace is his biggest weakness.

True enough.

And as long as England dont pick on form they'll remain in the doldrums.

Which doesn't exactly make my heart ache.

Ya, England badly need to pack their team full of more cloggers.

Shocking lack of technique of late with English players.

It's odd because they were really making progress in the late 90s in a team built around Scholes.

Carrick should be in the England team, frankly, though I'm happy to not see any Utd player wasting their time with that shower so all well and good.

Cloggers or not as long as they keep picking blokes who have barely kicked a ball in anger or been sub-par when they have they'll remain shite.

But they're always bringing in form players.

The problem is that they don't fuck them off when they're back to their level.

Lampard is a case in point. What on Earth is he doing to justify upsetting the whole balance of the team by having two attack-minded central midfielders in there?

The England team should be built around Ferdinand, Carrick, Gerrard, Cole and Rooney. Their five most technically gifted players if you exclude Scholes being unavailable.

The worst bit is they've gone back to talking shite like "imposing a Premiership style game". Say what you like about the FAI, if you look at the youngsters coming through with us, I think they have more assured technique and look better coached than the average English equivalent.

England hasn't even still gotten around to training kids to be two-footed like.

That's all true from a long term view. I was jsut on about the game the other night- Owen, King, Terry, Smith, Fucking Lampard shouldn't be within a mile of that team at the mo for either being our for most of the season or just in poor form.
