If west ham got parker ( I'm thinking no chance), Cahill ( apparently very possible) and Shorey, they'd have a hell of a team.
I don't think Reading would sell Shorey though.

Shorey is one of those 'fantastic going forward, adequate at the back' type of players. There's only about 5 or 6 teams in the prem that have better left backs than him. To west ham, he's maradona.

He's had one good season in the prem and just because a few pundits in England talked him up , every joe soap is as well .

I can't remember who they were playing, but the game was a little after christmas and reading hammered them, might have been west ham actually, but shorey was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. He played one-twos, dribbled past people, beat people for pace and 9 times out of ten played the right ball. One of the performances of the season in my book.
I'm not just judging him on that either, he's been very good each time I've seen him play.(about 6 times if I'm honest)

HAMMERS' SPENDING SPREE
HAMMERS TO SPEND, SPEND, SPEND
Paul Smith 03/06/2007
WEST HAM are embarking on a £45million spending spree to safeguard their Premiership future.
The Hammers aim to follow up the signing of Newcastle's Scott Parker by targeting Everton duo Andy Johnson and Mikel Arteta.
They are also locked in a battle with the Magpies over Australian striker Mark Viduka.

Click here to find out more!
Parker's move to Upton Park is yet to be finalised after the Hammers' valuation fell short of Newcastle asking price of £7m.
The deal is expected to go through at the start of the week because, contrary to reports there is no interest in Parker from Tottenham.
Viduka, who is currently on holiday in Melbourne, has been given the weekend to decide on a move to West Ham or Newcastle.
The latter are favourites to clinch his signature, despite offering him less money than the Hammers to make a switch from their North-East rivals Middlesbrough.
West Ham are currently scouting a number of European targets but have ruled out any plans to make a move for Manchester City's troubled midfielder Joey Barton.
But while the Hammers step up their recruitment campaign they are having major problems off-loading nearly £40m worth of players put up for sale by Alan Curbishley at the end of the season.
Offers deemed derisory by the club have been rejected while there have been no inquiries for captain Nigel Reo-Coker.
ASTON VILLA and Everton are set to raid Wolves for Michael Kightly - after the £3m-rated wonderkid admitted he would consider quitting Molineux.
Kightly, 21, the find of the season after his £25,000 move from non-league Grays in January, has privately confided that he wants to hear from interested Premiership clubs after Wolves' playoffs failure.
A source close to Kightly said: "Villa and Everton are the main clubs interested, as they have been for some months."
MANCHESTER UNITED are set to offer a contract to Irish wonderkid Shay Brady, tipped to be the next Wayne Rooney.
The 16-year-old is already in the first team at St Patrick's in the Irish League, and United are prepared to sign him on a £5,000-aweek deal in January when he is 17.
But Liverpool are fierce rivals for the Republic of Ireland youth international, and even invited him to the Champions League Final.

Everton's England striker Andrew Johnson
Johnson is reported to be attracting interest from West Ham
Everton have responded to speculation surrounding Andrew Johnson by insisting the England striker is not for sale.
West Ham are reported to be preparing a £13m bid for Johnson, 26, who cost Everton £8.6m from Crystal Palace.
Chief executive Keith Wyness told Everton's website: "We've had no contact from any club, nor would we welcome any.
"While many Premiership clubs covet Andrew, he's made it perfectly clear he's happy to be an Everton player."
Johnson scored 11 Premiership goals in his first season for the Toffees, helping them to Uefa Cup qualification, although injuries restricted him to 32 League appearances.
He suffered a sprained ankle at West Ham on 21 April, and underwent subsequent surgery which has ruled him out of England Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia.
But Everton expect him to be fit to take part in pre-season training.

Just saw a rumour that they've bid 30million for Tevez. Apparently biscuits are selling well.
Apparently he doesn't want talks with them until he has sussed out all the options available to him.
I'd imagine any number of those options will be better than West Ham.

Wrong thread but strong rumours of Malouda to Chelsea
Chelsea set to sign Malouda
Chelsea are set to win the race to sign Lyon winger Florent Malouda, according to reports from French radio station RMC.
Malouda has been looking for a move all summer, and it was thought that Rafael Benitez and Liverpool were first in the queue for Malouda, who turned 27 last week.
However, it now seems that Jose Mourinho has got his man.
"To me the most important thing will be the desire shown by the club," Malouda said recently. "To move abroad, you really have to be wanted. I believe it will still need some time. But if the deal is good for Lyon, I believe they won't try to keep me."
Utility player Lassana Diarra looks set to move as part of the deal in the opposite direction, possibly on a loan basis
Diarra had been groomed as the natural successor to Claude Makelele, but the emergence of John Obi Mikel means first team opportunities could remain limited for the 22-year-old next season.
If he joins, Malouda will become the fourth new player at Stamford Bridge this summer, after Steve Sidwell, Tal Ben Haim and Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro.
http://gb.setanta.com/portal/article...6392e5&ref=rss
Check the Wiki entry
"On 19th June 2007, Florent Malouda agreed a 5 year £170,000 per week contract at former Premiership Champions Chelsea but the transfer is now in doubt following a less than favourable reaction from the influential Chelsea chatters, the English side's ultras firm.
Malouda was quoted as saying "Arsenal also wanted to sign me - but I refuse to do changing room botty sex with them - and the manager gives me the willys - well he tried to when we met!"

The West Ham chairman was looking at Juan Roman Riquelme, who is currently on loan at Boca Juniors.
Riquelme is reportedly ready to move to West Ham this summer after speaking to Magnusson.
Villareal do not want the playmaker back, so a deal with the Hammers is likely.
Boca president Mauricio Macri said: "It is impossible for Roman to continue at Boca.
"Saying something different would be lying to the people."

That has as much meat as a bolemic hampster.
THe same rumous (with the same quotes from the Boca owner) were doing the rounds last week about him going to Everton. The hook that time was that was that Tevez , Mascherano Heinze and whatever other Argies are in the Prem had recommended Everton to him. Apparently he was also blown away by the support when he played there in the CL qualifier a couple of years ago.
I didn't believe that then and I don't believe this now.

WEST HAM have been offered Argentina striker Javier Saviola to replace Carlos Tevez, writes MARK IRWIN.
World Cup star Saviola is being touted around Europe after a bitter end to his time at Barcelona.
And he will not cost a penny in transfer fees as he is out of contract.
Real Madrid and Valencia are also interested but West Ham can offer an unrivalled £80,000 a week after the £17million move for Darren Bent collapsed.
Saviola said: "I am leaving with a bitter taste in my mouth. I am ready for another chapter."

No, all I've heard about him is he's a bit of the "big I am". Not so much that he's not a good pro.
Not to be filed under Kieran Richardson.

"I am very flattered to be linked with clubs like Chelsea and West Ham, with great history and both are great teams in the Premier League," he told Sky Sports News.
"Like I said, I've got a contract and I am here to serve a duty to my club that I am contracted at.
"But if the opportunity does come to go and play for a team where you can move up a level and play Champions League football, that will always be my dream.
"That is always what I strive towards as a player, to play at the highest level.
"If that opportunity occurs to go and play for a team like that, then I would love for my management to look at the possibility and look in their heart to make it possible to make a move like that."

That Sir is f*ckin quality!!
As for Benni McCarthy, he "might" chase the money to Upton Park just like Lucas Neal but realistically he's an idiot if he does (although given the stupid amounts they have been throwing around recently it might make sense). Now if he moves to Chelsea on the other hand I say fair play to him. I'd hate to lose him but if we get decent money I won't be too depressed. He's an absolute quality striker and I'd love to see him finally play with a top club. West Ham would be a stupid move (unless they give him like 75 grand+ a week) and in all honesty, dare I say it, a step down for him at this point. Personally, if he does leave I'd love to see him go to United. He has wanted that move forever and I bet you he'd do a lot better than sicknote Saha. We'll see how it pans out but I doubt we'll let him go unless we at least get Bellamy back. -AmadeusDC-

West Ham may very well go on to greater things but, as it stands, they avoided relegation narrowly.
Until they do so, West Ham is indeed a step down.

west ham a step down from blackburn???, now that is quality
Blackburn Rovers
1994-95 Premier League champions
1993-94 Premier League runners-up
1911-12, 1913-14 League division 1 (now Premier League) champions
1884,1885,1886,1890, 1891,1928 FA Cup winners
West Ham United
Division One Best Position: 3rd 1985-86
FA Cup Winners: 1964, 1975, 1980
For starters, West Ham get pasted in both recent history and ancient history. Not even near ever winning a league FFS!!!
Never mind the fact that the league table generally doesn't lie. Here it is for you to see.

West Ham would probably be in the Championship at this stage (something you had pretty much accepted in the Spring) if they didn't cheat and play a player they shouldn't have.
Now I'm not saying Blackburn are a big club but jesus like West Ham are nobodies to be honest. At best, the "4th" team in their City. A feeder club for the big boys etc. Eggert will eventually realize, much to his dismay that you can't polish shit. Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea will always be the big boys in London. -AmadeusDC-

Look.
If I came on here in the morning and said:
1) Liverpool have been taken over by ambitious new owners
2) These owners want to improve the team
3) We have been linked with lots of exciting players
All of these statements would be true. If I then went on to proclaim that they would win the league- I'd be rightly derided because such an improvement has no basis.
You are prophesising an even greater improvement for West Ham and moaning about getting taken to task on it. What do you expect?

I assumed your earlier "question" was rhetoric.
What difference does it make? It makes the world of difference. I mean you didn't even like them before you went over. You could just as easily be supporting Charlton, Wimbledon or Barnet. Of course you're not, because of geography.
Look, you're supporting football with about 3 years. You probably won't remember Lampard etc leaving, or the hassle with Defoe. Your hatred of these guys is borne from how those around you feel rather than anything you've experienced yourself. Much of your memories of West Ham are other people's memories yet you prance about claiming to be all knowing of West Ham. We can all see through it yet for some unknown reason we still continue to question you.
Personally it's because I think each one of us believes we can educate you in some way - but it's like playing tennis against a wall and walls are fucking relentless.

Liam,
Thoughts please.
IMO Curbishley is not the man to take West Ham forward. With the amount of money West Ham have spent over the last 12 months surely they could have attracted someone like Sven.
A proven manager who has had great success at club level wherever he has been manager. A guy who could attract top quality players not only from England but also from all over Europe.
Curbishley has won nothing at the the top level and for the life of me i cannot see him doing anything remotely special with West Ham.
How long do you think he will remain at the club considering the owners ambitions and who do you think would be a good candidate to replace him.

i agree 100%, i have been clear and unchanged from the start about my dislike for curbishley. we sacked pardew (for reasons not made public) and at the time eggy was only newly in charge and curbs was the only one who would take the job, the players managed to pull of the great escape whilst he was in charge and we've only had 2 games this season so there hasn't been the opportunity to get rid of him.
i can't see him lasting too much longer if we're not top half at xmas he could be a goner, as to who will replace him, well, it's too early to call, it depends on who's available at the time

I cannot understand why they went for him in the first place. I was sure they would bring in a top class coach over the summer.

Ah, this is interesting seeing who actually came versus who I thought might come. I had thought Malouda and Alves to be decent shouts to come but didn't give the Torres deal much of a chance.

West Ham.
no one else would take the job at the time, and there's no way pardew was staying with what he was up to, and we couldn't sign him for only 6 months.
a bigger manager will come, we just need an excuse to get rid of curbs

Anyone else signed up for The Fiver? Its a ridiculous daily mail sent out at five o'clock with the days stories summarised. I spotted in the transfer rumours section that West Ham are being linked with an approach for El-Hadji Diouf(sp) for 10 million GBP, if they get him do ye think it would be the most dysfunctional squad of players ever assembled in world football?

the fans could stomach what we have now, but reading through the websites and talking to lads at work, the line has to be drawn at diouf FFS

West Ham have probably got one of the best youth systems in England. (They have produced more prem footballers than any other club I can see) They should concentrate on developing their youngsters like Noble who love the club rather than bring in Mercenary pieces of shit like Diouf

Following speculation in the press West Ham can confirm we are holding talks with Inter Milan over striker Adriano.
The figures that have been quoted in the media are inaccuarte as the possible deal is in it's early stages and money has not yet been discussed. The club are investigating the possibiity of a loan deal at this stage

apparently adriano's turned down an initial deal, but may be tempted with another
Sky Sports News understands Adriano has turned down a loan move to West Ham.
The Hammers confirmed earlier on Tuesday that they were in talks with Internazionale over a possible loan deal for the Brazilian.
Adriano's future at Inter looks uncertain with the club willing to loan him out so that he can regain his form and fitness.
The Brazilian international is well down the pecking order at Inter and does not currently figure in Roberto Mancini's plans.
West Ham are hoping to lure Adriano to Upton Park, but is believed that the former Parma hit-man has rejected their overtures.
Despite Adriano's initial rejection West Ham are expected to make a renewed bid to take the player to east London before the closure of the transfer window on Friday.
Hammers boss Alan Curbishley, speaking before West Ham's win over Bristol Rovers, was in the dark over the possible move for Adriano.
"I don't know too much about it to be fair," said Curbishley. "I don't know if it is talk to stir things up, if you like, we will have to see.
"I just think it is something that has cropped up. Is it speculation or is there something in it? I don't know."
