This guy is really struggling to maintain a profile.....

A big Sunday Times magazine article last week, and now a pretty poor attempt to get a job that has more or less been taken by Big Sam

Newcastle job interests Eriksson

Sven-Goran Eriksson
Eriksson has been linked with a host of Premiership clubs
Sven-Goran Eriksson's agent has said the former England boss would be interested in talking to Newcastle about their managerial vacancy.

Athole Still said: "There has been no contact whatsoever but if Newcastle were interested, I am sure Sven would be interested in talking to Newcastle."

Glenn Roeder resigned as Magpies boss on Sunday and former Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is favourite to take over.

Lyon's ex-Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier is also a possible candidate.

Swede Eriksson has been out of a job since leaving the England post following the unsuccessful 2006 World Cup campaign.

Either of those(Eriksson or Houllier) would fit in perfect with Newcastle's recent policy of employing bumbling idiots. Throw loads of money at them and watch the fun unfurl.

Actually wouldn't surprise me if Newcastle made both Houllier and Erikson joint managers on about 5mill a year each. Then they would surely go out and sign Milan Baros, Seba Veron, and Djimi Traore to bring the good times back to Newcastle

Of course but they would have to pay him what Sven believe hes really worth which would naturally be double what LA Galaxy are paying him. In other news Steak and Kidney Pies are set to treble in price at St James Park next season.

David May's trophy cabinet and photo album are already bulging with the spoils of his football career. "Here's me winning the Champions League (with a little help from the people who actually played in the final)", etc... However, the good times haven't finished just yet, despite the end of his playing days, and this time he's won a competition all on his own, so the limelight is deservedly his. For once.

He took part in the inaugural Manchester United Poker Legends Charity Challenge, beating off competition from fellow legend (well, actually a legend, unlike May, who doesn't have any chippies named after him as far we know) Lou Macari, former Reds Ashley Grimes, Mickey Thomas, former snooker champ Stephen Hendry, jockey Tony Dobbin and poker pro Marty Wilson.

May, Macari, Dobbin and Wilson got through to the final four, with the pro surprisingly the first of them to be eliminated, much to the relief of Macari, who came third and raised £1,000 for John O'Brien, a brain tumour victim from Stoke: "Having nominated my charity, I was really anxious as the tournament started. I was more nervous than I would have been if I was playing to win or lose my own cash. But luck was on our side and once the professional, Marty Wilson, was knocked out, I knew we'd raised at least £1,000 for John in Stoke."

Dobbin came second and took home £1,500 for the Injured Jockeys Fund, but the glory belonged to May, as usual. He raised £2,500 for local charity Christie's: "I play poker with my family quite a bit, but it's totally different playing under lights and cameras," he said. "It was nerve-wracking but once I got through to the final three, I was okay. All I wanted to do was raise money for charity so to get through to the final three was brilliant."

We haven't seen any celebrations photographs, but we'll be willing to bet that notoriously camera-shy May isn't hogging all the limelight. After all, when has he ever done that before?
