Oddly enough, it's already being discussed, directly or indirectly, in 4 of the 6 threads just below this one.

But shur, let's discuss it all the same. I love an old political discussion, me.

guess the fix is in, FF don't want to win this one.

Rainbow is favourite according to Paddy Power.

After the Central Bank's forecast yesterday and with the prospects for the economy for the next few years, winning this one could be a curse on whoever does.

yeah, the winning of the next election could well be a poison chalice for the incoming govt.

if, as seems possible, the economy/property market takes a downtown under the next govt (say fine gael/labour/greens) then in 4-5 years time ff could have a jack lynch style landslide victory from voters urging them to bring back the good times of the celtic tiger era.

The would be the case alright if people ignored the recklessness of FF in the last two terms.

These are the polls from tomorrow's papers:

Sunday Independent (by IMS Millward Brown, last poll January):
FF 38 (-1)
FG 23 (+1)
LAB 12 (-)
GP 6 (+1)
SF 8 (+1)
PD 4 (-1)
Other 8 (-2)

Sunday Business Post (by RedC, last poll March):
FF 35 (-1)
FG 27 (+4)
LAB 11 (-1)
GP 9 (+1)
SF 8 (+1)
PD 3 (-)
Others 7 (-1)

This means the alliances match up as follows:
Sindo:
FF/PD - 42 (-2)
FG/LAB - 35 (+1)
FG/LAB/GP - 41 (+2)

SBPost:
FF/PD - 38 (-1)
FG/LAB - 38 (+3)
FG/LAB/GP - 47 (+4)

The rainbow coalition has all the momentum at the moment.

FF is now promising to bring the Luas to Cork and other counties,

My hole. I believe it when I fuckin see it. The best part of the countrys tax money sits in Dublin City and the rest in Scaby Berties pocket.

But you know, Old people who have always voted FF will continue to vote FF, Why? cos they are morans. And are stuck in their ways. And what scares me even more is that I was discussing this the other day with a girl from work and she said she was voting FF. I asked why on earth she would want to do that and she said, well they aren't doing a bad job are they.

I nearly fell off my chair. After about an hour of lecturing her I think I changed her mind.
People aren't educated enough. I mean people my age. Who will vote but have no idea what they are voting for and will more than likely vote for who their parents vote for. And parents tend to stick to what they know.

It wouldn't suprise me if FF ended up with most seats in the Dáil. It really wouldn't.

FF always have most seats in the Dáil i.e. more than any other single party. Or at least they have had for as long as I can remember.

They are not only tired, they are a shower of contemptible cunts who care only about themselves.

Bertie complained today that we'll be the laughing stock of Europe because we are not using electronic voting.

How far does this cunt have his head shoved up his hole?

The machines are fundamentally flawed and his government has pissed away over 50 million on paying for them and storing them and he still has the brass neck to claim its everyones fault but his???

He clearly believes that there are enough stupid people in this country who believe this shite.

Five more years of FF arrogance, incompetence and tolerance for corruption is a deeply depressing prospect.

I despair of the people who vote for these cunts who only care about themselves adn are laughing at the ordinary people who keep voting them back in.

Good yet depressing times we live in

Bertie, you're a cunt. Go now.

Since 1932. Although they got their worst vote since the 1930s in the 2004 local elections. And I don't see that that public dissatisfaction has been quelled since then. In fact many of the issues from then have gotten worse. Indeed if you study the data over the decades, FFs vote has been in consistent slide and they had to give up their core principle of not entering coalition governments, in 1989, after not having achieved a majority since the early eighties. I have a feeling some history will be made in the upcoming election. The hounds are baying for blood......

The closest they came to not having the largest number of seats was in the November 1982 election when they had 75 and Fine Gael got 70.

In truth, when they have 50 seats more than the next largest party, there's little prospect of them not being the largest party. It would take a miracle for Fine Gael to gain another 20 seats and even then, a lot of those would be from Independents and not Fianna Fail.

Time to go allright.

Anything they have attempted in Cork has been an expensive farce or nothing at all.Luas for Cork nonsense not while you have old farts like John Dennehy representing Cork South Central.
Airport Debt,1 airbridge JOKE,No transatlantic flights for secobd city yet you can fly from Knock to the U.S.A.
Decentralisation for the second city ?
Roads - Flyovers for Bandon Road,Sarsfield road.North ring put on backburner.
The are now arrogant after years in power and Cork is poorly represented at cabinet level whilst Martin Cullen is in charge of the countrys transport.
Dick Roche environmental spoofer.
