The story I've heard is that the appointment of McCarthty as manager was somehow influenced by Murphy the chairman of the county board. A lot of the players are not happy about McCarthy's level of coaching skill. It is also thought that the team selections are being influenced from on high.

I'm just happy for the first time in long time that the chat isn't about Limerick being up in a heap off the field.

The fact Deane was in the official programme must mean that, if he did, he pulled out after the last training session which would be an odd thing to do. Ben came in as number 26 which was a little confusing for the first few minutes. As soon as he got the ball though you'd know who it is!
