Can someone please explain how the home/away legs were decided for these games.

Liverpool were away for the first leg of their quarter final against PSV.
They are now(again) away for the first leg against Chelsea.

Meanwhile Man U who were away for their first leg against Roma are now at home for their first leg against Milan.

I was under the impression that the rules were..... if you were AWAY for your first leg quarter final then you would be at HOME for your first leg semi final.

The above draw makes no sense at all to me.

I'm quite happy for Liverpool to be at home for the second leg as i think its a great advantage as no matter what the result in the first leg you always have a chance at home in the second to make amends.

Whats the story with this draw?

Luck of the draw they have been drawn already and United got an away first/home in the semi's first if they win draw

Liverpoool got an away first/away in the semi's first if they win draw

It's just the luck of the draw

The really confusing thing is that the UEFA website had it wrong yesterday i think as did BBC and both Liverpool and Chelseas contradicted each other with who was home first

Chelsea are home first though you are right

ya, i have to catch these games on ESPN and the commentators definatly said at some stage during the 1/4 finals that it was the opposite for the semis.

wierd.

I would much rather play away in the 1st leg, then if you get a goal away or draw away you have a huge advantage....

I'd be the opposite for 1 simple reason. The team who is away in the 2nd leg have the oppertunity to score an away goal in extra time if it goes that far. Its a stupid rule but it still exists.

Are you serious??

So a 1-1 draw at home and away followed by a goal each in extra time sends the away team through????????????? ???

Good god almighty.

I'm speechless at this one.

Why?

Do you think that is fair?

Home and away advantage should be scrapped after 180 mins if the ties are level surely?

If you draw 1-1 at home, and then draw 2-2 away after extra time you go through.

The rule is fair as it can be to me.

After 180 mins, The away team get the away goal advantage, the home team have the crowd.

I find it incredible that you didn't actually know the away goals rule, absolutely unreal actually. You must be watching soccer for 20 years?

Unreal, thats why i was so surprised.

No, it is a silly rule and one which many people didn't know

You read my post wrong initially and thought i meant different draws and are now covering up

That's why it took you so long to reply (A HALF HOUR) and THAT's why you have been shown up again

Stevie lad, I'm trying to look after about 6 threads at the moment.

You didn't know the away goals rules. Deal with it. Its a short thread and my posts are consistent. And EVERYONE does know about it. I may do a poll.

The stalking is pathetic

You had a half an hour to reply and you have been following me for that time but couldn't answer the question

Bye now

what part of

"Good god almighty.

I'm speechless at this one."

lends itself to that. I said this a couple of minutes after your crazy statement.

You've been badly badly exposed on this. Following soccer 20 years and not knowing the away goals rule.

Unreal

The extra time rule is stupid

And i've rarely seen it come into play

I, like many others, felt that after 180 mins it should be struck

You avoided my question for the half hour where you were following me from thread to thread

You read me wrong first time and in your eagerness to get a dig, fucked up

It's okay, no big deal

Okay Stevie, I'm being geuinely serious here. Of course I knew that rule.

You know I'm a man of honour. If you ask me a straight question i will give a truthful answer. I nominated Ronaldo for player of they year and said Keane was unquestionably in the top 10 Irish players of all time.

I knew that rule. You didn't. I can keep this going all say if you like.

I'm not doubting that

I'm saying that you read me wrong first time and made this speechless comment because of it

I don't agree with the man of honour stuff

The way you get personal proves that

But let's move on, i'm gonna ignore your stuff for a few days and hopefully you will have copped on by then
