Pretty embarrasing to have the lowest turnouts in Europe. Images of 'celebs' rather than politicans voting on election day might work on the younger generation.
If only they'd let them vote by text!

Remember the bizarre 'Vote or Die' campaign led by Puff Daddy? I never quite understood what that meant.
Question: Do Dara O Brian or Cillian Murphy actually still have a vote in Ireland?

Now they've taken 20% of people off the register, it will probably be very high...

I think Dara O Briain lives in Dublin and just flies over to London when work requires it.
No idea about Cillian Murphy. AFAIK he has been living in London for a good while.

Fianna Fáil will do well from a low turnout Id say. Probably praying for good weather. A lot of candidates are predicting a minority government and a hung Dáil. Might be worth a few quid at the bookies.

It's not that tough a prediction really. The PDs look like losing a few seats. FF did better in terms of seats than their vote would have normally produced last time out, so even if they hold their support, they are likely to lose seats. Six seats lost between the PDs and FF would produce a minority government.
On the other hand, FG, Labour and the Greens have 24 seats short of a majority between them. Even with a major improvement (and only the Greens show signs of that), they'll fall short.
The only alternative coalitions are FF/Lab, which would be almost impossible to arrange without serious fallout inside the Labour Party and FF/Green, which is unlikely to be able to muster more than 3 more seats than FF/PD. In addition Trevor Sargent is known to be opposed to a coalition with Fianna Fail (they would be destroyed at the next election if they did it), although there are some figures within the Green Party that are more amenable.

Dara registered in England, no vote in Ireland. Doesn't stop him from advising people to register and vote in Ireland now does it?

Trevor Sargent has said he would not go into coalition with Fianna Fail but recently he has added "..as leader" to this statement. i.e. he could stay on as a minister. Greens could get 8 seats I'd say.
Their big problem is with the farmer/rural vote. They're against live cattle exports and the blanket use of fertilisers. A coalition with FF might be good for them in the long run if they can win over the farmers.
Incidentally, Dan Boyle is tipped for leader. He'd be well capable too. How long is it since Cork had a party leader?
