Darren Murphy was stretchered off tonight from what seems to be a nasty gash on his leg. He was brought to hospital straight away because doctors at the grounds couldn't do anything to help him out, take from that what you will.
Its a kick in the teeth to be honest because he looked like he was slotting into the team fairly well. Very good player from what we have seen so far. And if Healy and Farrelly get cleared soon then he might not get as good a chance to get back into the squad that soon again.
Hope for a speedy recovery anyway.

I heard he was brought to hospital for stitches to close the gash on his leg. He'll be out for about 2 weeks. It's a pity but it's not as bad as it looked. Shame really he played well tonight.

Darrens tough out, have no fear, he'll be back soon enough and he'll force his way back into the side.

Here is what it says on the official website
Murphy Injury Update
Darren Murphy received a very nasty gash on the thigh which went straight through to the muscle. The damage done was inflicted by a stud in a high challenge in last night’s game against Portadown. Darren was detained in hospital and will undergo an operation this afternoon. The first aim of the procedure is to ascertain if there is any damage done to the muscle which was protruding through a gaping hole; with the obvious danger being the risk of infection.
Secondly, the medical staff at CUH will repair whatever damage they find following the initial examination. Darren himself is in good spirits, and understands that although the damage was severe, it could have been a lot worse. All being well, Darren will leave hospital tomorrow, but will be out of action for at least 2-3 weeks. The club wish to thank the professionalism and efficiency of both the ambulance and hospital staff in dealing with this matter, and also wish Darren a speedy recovery.
