Looks like €500k to be done today. A big fat meh from me. I'd rather take a chance and give Barkley a regular run than sign Gibson especially when we're so light upfront.

I dont know much about Gibson tbh. Have never really seen him play a lot. Any time i have he has not really stood out. He's ok for 500k. Could be the end of Cahill? Last weds he was terrible looked like he had no interest.

Gibson is no world-beater (...arguably he is low-to-mid PL standard at a stretch) but Everton aren't scoring enough goals at the moment and for a very modest outlay indeed they've got a guy who isn't shy in taking a punt from distance.
Who knows, he might clock up a few "cheap" goals and barring a disastrous spell at the club they'll probably not make a loss on him in a re-sale.

Gibson will do a job. He is risk free at 500k. With a bit of luck he might show a bit of form with a run of games which he wasn't getting at Utd. I don't think anyone knows what Gibson is capable of yet as he has not played any regular football.

I've been watching Gibson carefully here. He's doing the simple things really well. He gets the ball, he gives a pass then moves into space - something we haven't done too well this season. Promising start but still early days.
Cattenburg is having an absolute shocker.Donovan down the right, iputs in a wonderful cross, Saha attacks it and he's pulled back by Hutton surely. Penalty?! NO! Not given by Mark Fucking Clattenburg!

Don't think Jelavic is all that. He'd do well at a club creating a lot of chances week in week out, not so sure how he'll do at Everton where he'll be living off scraps. Good player, but a hell of a lot of hype around him.

Danijel Pranjic claims he came close to joining Everton on transfer deadline day, only for Bayern Munich to dash his dreams of making a move to England.
The Croatia international is out of favour at the Allianz Arena and was open to the prospect of moving on in January.
Everton were prepared to offer him a route out of Bayern, with David Moyes leaving it late to bolster his Goodison Park ranks.
Pranjic, who can operate in defence or in midfield, saw Bayern block his path, though, with their unrealistic demands causing talks to break down.
"I had an agreement with Everton for two-and-a-half years," the 30-year-old told Sportske Novosti.
"I was ready to board a plane and I was really happy because I knew that Everton were serious and that they had big plans for me.
"But now it is all over and this is a catastrophe. I can't describe the negative feelings I have.
"Bayern wanted so much money that everybody knew that Everton would not pay.
"I'm so unhappy because I was sure that I would be leaving Bayern. I don't play and now the opportunity to play in the Premier League has gone. I'm so unhappy."

Nice piece about Landon.
Impressive again during his second loan spell, his hero status is confirmed. But surely a player of his quality should not be in the MLS. Come on, Landon, get back over here full-time...
They say never go back. Fortunately for Everton, Landon Donovan didn’t listen.
Flu-ridden, he missed his own send-off against Blackpool on Saturday – and what a rousing one it would surely have been. His popularity amongst Evertonians is off the scale, backed up by another string of top-level performances during his second stint on Merseyside. He is simply a superb player – a player who, especially at the age of twenty-nine, needs to be playing at a higher standard than the MLS.
Donovan’s return brought with it an improvement in Everton’s performances and results, something which is no coincidence. The boffins over at ESPN have calculated that, with Donovan in the side, Everton have averaged an extra 0.5 goals per game. Impressive – as is his tally of six assists in his nine appearances second time round.
But statistics can’t fully explain why Everton and Donovan are such a crystalline fit. Think back to Saturday 9th January 2010: Everton are denied victory away to Arsenal only by an injury-time Tomáš Rosický goal. Landon Donovan makes his Everton debut, taking barely ten minutes to adapt to a league which some never adapt to. It’s a world away from the Los Angeles sunshine – indeed, it was a game played in the midst of a blizzard – but Donovan slots in seamlessly on the right hand side of Everton’s midfield.
He says afterwards he is “proud to be a part of this team”. Immediately, it has clicked, and by the end of the first loan his bond with the supporters has grown so strong that he says he can’t envisage himself playing for any other English club. He has such an understanding with Evertonians that by the time he departs, he is an Evertonian. He gets what playing for this club is all about.
“Everton is the only club I’d come back to. There’s something magical about this club that captures you from the minute you step into Goodison and doesn’t let you go”
Saying the right things in interviews is all well and good but it needs to be backed up with talent. That’s no problem for Donovan – an exceptional player. He’s skilful, composed on the ball and possesses in abundance a commodity which Everton have not had for a while: pace. All qualities which, combined with an excellent ‘footballing brain’, spell danger for the opposition. He can fly past a full-back or play a clever pass round him. He can send in a perfect cross with either boot as he did for both Everton’s goals against Fulham or intelligently tee-up a teammate as he did Darron Gibson against Manchester City.
He brings fluidity and balance to the side, easing the unhealthy reliance on our left flank. He knows what to do and when to do it and is one of few Everton players who can provide a spark of guile, a so-called ‘killer’ pass in the final third. Think of the exquisitely measured through ball for Victor Anichebe to score at Aston Villa, or the reverse pass to set Denis Stracqualursi through against Chelsea.
He is a class act both on and off the pitch and, although it was a shame he missed his Goodison send off, I would be mightily surprised if he has played his last game for the club. As the great Alan Ball once said: “Once Everton has touched you, nothing will ever be the same”. Landon’s been touched alright. The question is, will he play out the two years remaining on his contract with LA Galaxy and return in his third decade – or will he return at the first available opportunity?
Either way, or even if he doesn’t come back at all, he’s been a joy to watch at Goodison Park. In a farewell message to Evertonians, Donovan said: “Thankyou for the memories I will never forget. Most of all, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family”.
Landon, it’s been our pleasure.

After his first spell they enquired and were quoted a crazy price. Moyes said he wouldn't pay that for any 28 year old. A few other clubs went in for him as well but found the price too high.
After this season he has one year left on his Galaxy contract. Hopefully a deal can be struck at a more realistic price.

It's official, in case you were unsure, the Scouse knight Sir Paul McCartney is an Evertonian.
Apparently first confirmed in the Observer Sport Monthly, details can also be found in Neil Roberts recently released book, 'Blues & Beatles'.
Macca said: 'Here's the deal.'
'My father was born in Everton, my family are officially Evertonians - so if it comes to a derby match or an FA Cup Final between the two, I would have to support Everton. But after a concert at Wembley Arena I got a bit of friendship with Kenny Dogleash who had been to the gig. And I thought, 'You know what?' I am just going to support them both because it is all Liverpool and I don't have that Catholic Protestant thing. So I did have to get a special dispensation from The Pope to do this but that's it, too bad.'
'They are both great teams. But if it comes to the crunch, I'm Evertonian.'
We love you, yeah, yeah, yeah!
Just throw a few quid our way now kid.

Sources close to The Blue Union have confirmed that former Liverpool managing director, Christian Purslow, has become a ‘consultant’ of Everton Football Club as Bill Kenwright tries valiantly to sell the club.
The 48-year-old left his post as managing director of Liverpool in February 2011 following the club’s £300m sale to New England Sports Ventures (NESV) in October 2010.
Purslow, a fluent Spanish speaker and Anfield season ticket holder, joined Liverpool in June 2009 – succeeding chief executive Rick Parry.
He is a Cambridge graduate with an MBA from Harvard Business School and is also an executive board member and co-founder of private equity firm MidOcean Partners.

GLOBAL sports agency Inner Circle Sports which helped broker Liverpool FC’s two US take-overs has joined the hunt to find a buyer for Everton FC.
Inner Circle Sports, who led first Tom Hicks and George Gillett, then John W Henry to Anfield, have been given the go-ahead by Goodison Park officials to help in their ongoing search for new owners.
The New York-based firm, which also brought Ellis Short to Sunderland in 2008, approached Everton FC and asked to work with them, partly due to the club’s growing profile in the US.
EFC’s exposure across the Atlantic has increased on the back of the two successful loan spells of US national team captain Landon Donovan, and their recent FA Cup fourth round victory over Fulham was broadcast live on ESPN in America.
A club spokesman declined to comment, however, the ECHO understands Inner Circle will join other companies and individuals helping Bill Ken-wright’s takeover search, and have not been given any exclusive remit.
While the development does not signal any immediate increase in the likelihood of a buy-out, it represents the positive involvement of a company with a proven track-record in the field.
Inner Circle Sports were also behind the financing of Wembley Stadium, and have worked alongside a number of US Major League soccer clubs including New York Cosmos and Real Salt Lake.
On their website home-page, the firm describe themselves as major players in the financing market. It says, ‘We frequently work as a buy-side advisor to lead the purchase of a sports franchise or other sports-related asset.
‘We work side-by-side with purchasers to identify compelling investment opportunities and to facilitate all aspects of deal execution’.
Meanwhile, Everton FC's home fixture against Arsenal will now take place on Wednesday March 21 (kick-off 8pm).
The game, which will not be televised, was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 17 but has been moved due to Everton's involvement in the sixth round of the FA Cup.
David Moyes' men will be hoping to record their first win over the Gunners since Andrew Johnson scored the only goal at Goodison Park in March 2007.
The Blues suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in December.

A TUESDAY morning fry-up in a city centre cafe brought home to Don Hutchison just how much a derby victory means to football fans on Merseyside.
And for a man who was on the winning side for both Everton and Liverpool in a Merseyside derby, that bizarre derby celebration confirmed that David Moyes got his team selection wrong on Tuesday night.
Hutchison was in the last Everton FC side to triumph at Anfield 13 years ago and after the Blues’ latest unsuccessful attempt to reverse that trend he rapped: “Are Evertonians right to be unhappy with the team selection? 100 per cent.
“I watched the game with Peter Reid, who is a massive Evertonian and we couldn’t believe it. When you have gone seven games unbeaten in the league and you make six changes for a derby ... you leave Drenthe, Osman, Cahill, Jelavic and Neville all on the bench in the biggest game of the season ...
“Yeah you can say there’s a big FA Cup game at the weekend but the derby is about bragging rights.
“I was in the Everton side that last won at Anfield in 1999 and when we won we went into work the next day at Everton and Walter Smith took us on a coach into the middle of the city centre and made us walk into town for a fry-up in our Everton kit. It was all about the bragging rights.
“All the Liverpool fans were giving us pelters, but the Everton fans were absolutely loving it and that’s what it’s all about. It’s bragging rights.”
Moyes admitted he had one eye on Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final when he made six changes to Tuesday’s starting line-up, but Hutchison believes that even FA Cup glory would still leave Evertonians wondering what might have been.
“Everton are not massive spenders,” added Hutchison. “They have not got the finance, but if they win the FA Cup this year and finish just behind Liverpool, yes they will say what a terrific season, but they will have in the back of their minds what might have been.
“They could have gone above Liverpool on Tuesday night. That’s what hurts them the most. With the right personnel they could have given it a right go and gone above Liverpool.
“But the bigger picture is if they can win a trophy that means a lot – especially to Everton. It was bizarre the line up they made and the personnel they went with.
“Sunderland will be a tough one but the six players who were on the bench on Tuesday, I bet they will start.
“I will never knock David Moyes. I think David Moyes has done a phenomenal job in the 10 years he has been there. I know Everton fans are a little bit raw and they are not seeing the bigger picture which is fair enough because it’s a massive game, but if you can get to a cup final it might ease the pain a little bit.
“As an Evertonian I think winning the cup makes up for it.”

Two debatable decisions by the referee. A possible pen and a soft free that led to their goal.
Great strike though.

Yup, thats why I'm hoping Trap picks him, he doesn't shy away from his defensive duties.
Hard to tell which way this one is going to go, Everton on top and could of had a pen, but Sunderland definitely capable of grabbing a 2nd aswell, good game of ball. Go on the Mackems

David Moyes was left rueful after a night of frustration against Arsenal.
The Blues suffered a 1-0 reverse at Goodison. But it may have been a different story had an an offside flag not denied Royston Drenthe a first-half goal.
That strike would have restored parity after Everton went down to Thomas Vermaelen's eighth minute header.
But in the end the Blues couldn't find an equaliser and lost out 1-0.
Moyes said after the game: "Apart from the first 20 minutes I thought we played as well as Arsenal and were really unlucky not to take something from the game.
"There were five decisions which were onside, I wouldn't just come up here and say it, I have checked. It was a goal.
"We have had a sore deal the last few games, we have had really poor decisions in the games against us. It cost us in the end."
Moyes couldn't fault the efforts of his players after their early setback and he also admitted how impressed he was with the in-form visitors.
"The players played really well after that, they gave it a right go," continued the Blues boss.
"Arsenal, in the first 20 minutes, I thought my goodness, at seeing how well they were doing."

A lot of hype about Moyes and his ten year anniversary, he said himself he felt embarrassed, he'd love to have won a bit of silverware.
His biggest achievement was finishing above Liverpool in the League in 2005 and getting the coveted Champions league spot.
Two good nights out I'd say.
Unluck to draw Villareal in the playoff was another comment of his, unlucky or just not good enough?

Villareal got to the semis that year. I was at the home game which Everton deserved to lose. However the away leg they had a perfectly good goal chalked off which would have brought the tie to extra time and then who knows???

Well on top and as soon as they got the second Sunderland were gone. They had no idea how to get back into the game. Cattermole did his usual routine to little effect.

FA Cup semi final massive for Merseyside, says Everton FC defender
by Richard Buxton. Published Wed 28 Mar
Leighton Baines believes next month's all-Merseyside FA Cup semi final is be 'massive' for the city.
Everton's reward for last night's 2-0 win over Sunderland is a Wembley return against Liverpool, with the April 14 meeting conjuring memories of their regular meetings in the capital during the 1980's.
Baines knows all too well the significance of the showdown, both as a lifelong Blue and a Kirkby native, and gives David Moyes' side further incentive to reach a second FA Cup final in three years.
He said: "It's massive for the city and being a local lad, I know what it means to everyone. I've got family and friends that are Red and Blue, so it'll be an exciting week building up to the game.
"It's a fantastic occasion. The fact that it's against Liverpool makes it all the more special, but to get to a semi-final for us is great. I might even get a move across the park for it if I don't get destroyed by that one-man-team Stewart Downing.
"It was a great incentive going into the match. Now we can start to look forward to it - obviously we've got other games coming up before that, so we'll focus on them as well."

Nice piece.
Everton find blueprint for ending Wembley heartache against Liverpool
Putting the focus on their own performance in the Merseyside FA Cup semi-final could be the key to success
David Moyes's embargo lifted at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night and Everton could finally discuss their appointment with Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. But Tim Cahill preferred not to. "Let's not worry about tomorrow. Let's just focus on this feeling. It is an amazing feeling." Born in Australia, spoken like a man raised on the Gwladys Street.
Everton produced the finest display of their season to sweep aside Sunderland in the sixth-round replay and to confirm a first Merseyside derby at the national stadium for 23 years. The intensity from a Moyes team did not surprise, nor should the quality in a side containing in defence the astute John Heitinga (who Everton wish to tie to a new long-term contract), the polished Marouane Fellaini and Leon Osman in midfield and, in Nikica Jelavic, the goalscoring threat Everton have craved since Yakubu Ayegbeni ruptured his achilles tendon at Tottenham Hotspur in November 2008. What stunned a delirious, impassioned 6,000-plus travelling support, however, was its timing.
Rarely in recent years, with the prize within reach, have Everton delivered to a man and enabled their support to savour such an important victory with a cigar rather than on the rack. They will need a repeat of the composure, the adventure and the tactics that shattered Martin O'Neill's team to overcome another facet of their DNA on 14 April.
All Merseyside derbies matter, as Moyes can testify following the criticism he received for making six changes for the recent 3-0 defeat at Anfield with the home quarter-final against Sunderland in mind. But some matter more than others. Liverpool win them. The 1971 FA Cup semi-final, when defeat hastened the rapid demise of Harry Catterick's champions; the 1977 FA Cup semi-final replay, which still invites Evertonians of a certain vintage to bore people to tears about the referee, Clive Thomas; the 1984 Milk Cup final replay and the 1986 and 1989 FA Cup finals gave only one half of Merseyside cause for celebration. Good luck finding a blue to redress the balance with tales of their success in the 1906 FA Cup semi-final at Villa Park.
Everton's poor record in the showpiece derby predates Moyes and the financial gulf that the Premier League has helped accelerate between the clubs. In their defence, it is worth noting that in 1977, 1984 and 1986 Everton faced a Liverpool team that finished the season as European champions, league champions or both. But not any more, although it has been levelled at Moyes that he views Liverpool in such reverential terms when crossing Stanley Park.
The Everton manager admitted recently that Liverpool have proven the toughest opponent of his 10 years in charge at Goodison Park and labelled Kenny Dalglish's team favourites for the semi-final in the immediate aftermath of the Sunderland win. His argument has merit after two defeats in two league meetings this season and given the global appeal that saved Liverpool from the near-ruination of the Tom Hicks and George Gillett era and, under Fenway Sports Group, has allowed Dalglish to spend £113m on new players since January 2011 compared to £5.5m at Everton in the same period. We shall leave the skewed net spend argument – which again favours Moyes – for another time, or to Rafael Benítez on Football Focus when he should have been congratulating the Everton manager on a decade in the job.
Too often, though, the financial disparity between Everton and Liverpool has been presented by Moyes before a derby has kicked off. It may be legitimate, it may be fact, but it is not always conducive to galvanising the underdog. Tactically, at least at Anfield, where the Everton manager has not won in 11 visits, there has also been too much respect shown to Liverpool's strengths when, as his own team confirmed on Wearside and Roberto Martínez illustrated with Wigan Athletic on Saturday, it is better to concentrate on one's own.
"This performance is up there with the best of them because of what it means to the fans, the players and the club and where we want to take it," said Cahill. "At the start of the season, the reports were indifferent and there were a lot of people down about the club. But we've had such a turnaround and, as I've said time and time again, the players love Everton and that's what has made a difference.
"I have enjoyed some great experiences with this club and this is up there at the best. In my career I will be looking back to nights like this, because this changes the season. We have to keep our feet firmly on the floor and don't get carried away. Yes, the semi-final and final are at Wembley, but the carrot [the FA Cup] is there itself. Liverpool is a massive game, but when you look ahead of the next game then you start making mistakes. We are too experienced to start worrying what Liverpool are doing. They are a great team and have spent a lot of money and have a good manager. But this is all about us."

I'm trying my best to give this thread something worth reading ;-)
Best of luck making the semi.
Clearly Liverpool have bossed Everton in the head-to-head games this season but it's rare that one of the Merseyside two get the upper hand in 3 games against the other in the same season.
There were plenty of learning points from Moyes in both ties so you'd imagine he'll try to come up with something special tactically on the day.

Has taken to the premiership a lot quicker than I taught. He always looked very good at Rangers but you always wonder will he be able to make the step up. Everything he does seems effortless. He has a great first touch can head the ball and is a natural finisher. Looks like Moyes has pulled another bargain off.

Sorry Philby have just been ducking in and out the last few days. Nice compliment by Baines regarding Downing ;) . Two of the best left backs in the league are plying their trade on Merseyside. The only thing about the league games were the sending off at Goodison so early ruined the game and then Moyes played a very weak team at Anfield much to most Everton fans disgust.
Will be interesting to see how both sides full xi face up to each other.

To be honest it was pretty evident he was a cut above the rest. There are another 5-6 players in the SPL that would do just as good a job I think elsewhere. He is comfortable as a target man, he can dribble, he has two good feet and can head the ball.

A 12:30 kick off; you’re kiddin? The Cockneys can play at any old time the following day though can’t they. Oh well, can’t be helped, 12:30 it is then. Up and at ‘em early doors. Let on to the Milkman. Paper, beer, food. Get your bets on Friday night. Charge that phone. Clean your trainees. Don’t forget to set the alarm.
The scramble for the tickets; ‘Ey lad any spares’. Websites crashing, phone lines jamming, customer numbers and eligibility. ‘Closed message’, when you ring the Box Office. ‘Everton recommend you try the website’; along with everyone else in the World. The waiting… Finally, choose your seat, tickets to be picked up or delivered: thank f*ck for that. ‘Where you sittin’? ‘The View From Your Seat’ on Wembley website. It’s gonna be even more blue and white around me this time, louder, more passionate, more emotional; the nerves are kicking in. They have been since we beat Sunderland. It means more this time.
Trains, planes, coaches, hotels, hot air balloons, all booked up with Blues. ‘You stayin’ over lad?’ We are doin’ this and we are doin’ that. Gonna be an early start on the coach for me. 4 am. Few beers, songs and a Ginsters pasty and we’ll be on our way. On the march. A convoy of Toffees travelling down, a tidal wave of Evertonians. Driving past the redsh*te on the motorway, walking past them on the streets before we set off. The rivalry, the spirit, this city will be empty. Laughing at them being everything we are not.
The journey down to Wembley, the banter, the noise, the anticipation builds. Seeing countless match day faces. Flags draped on coaches, trains, scarves hanging out of car windows, a cheeky two fingered salute to our loveable neighbours on the way. Some Blues and Reds travelling down together. Families and friendships who may share the same blood, but support opposing city rivals. Relationships often strained when the two sides meet, arguments, anger, bitterness and pride. Allegiances to their clubs that go back decades and generations. Relatives in every form, household’s with red and blue divisions.
McDonald’s breakfasts. Service stations. ‘Don’t drink too much it’s too early’; ah forget it, pass me another can, am gonna need it to get through this. In fact, pass me a tranquiliser. Just don’t give me Chang.
Watford Gap; ‘The South’. Traffic building, Wembley arch on the horizon, nearly there. Thousands of Blues looking hung over from the night in Watford join the convoy of incoming supporters. All as one. Side by side. ‘Are we there yet’?
Arriving at the stadium, seeing thousands of your own; that ‘hairs on the back of your neck’ moment again. The relief and elation to be amongst the Everton family. A sense of belonging. All here together, from far and wide. Blue and white everything; ‘Hats, scarves and yer badges’. Getting your Everton v Liverpool Wembley 2012 pin badge. Let’s make this our moment, let’s make history.
Nothing compares to this. Remember when Jagielka scored the winning penalty vs Man Utd last time. Remember that if we want to, we can do this. Remember that feeling, the emotions, then times that by ten if we beat this lot. Remember Z-Cars blurring out when we won the semi last time. Remember Rideout in 95. Remember Chelsea fans taking the FA Cup for granted in 2009. It doesn’t mean half to them what it would to us again. Let this be our time.
The buzz around the ground. The sea of colours. Songs, sayings, motto’s. Superstitions. Wembley way, those fountains, the Green man pub. Memories revisited. ‘It’s a Grand Old Team’ and ‘Were on the march’. Old songs, new songs, old heroes, new heroes. David Moyes masks. This is where we belong, competing for cups. Moyes’ tenth year in charge, he deserves days like this, we deserve days like this. The sunshine last time, pink faces and burnt baldies everywhere.
Former players spotted around the ground, mixing with fans. Current players arriving, shots of them in their suits, looking dapper. The club back in the spotlight, our famous Everton. Team news. Come on you Blues. Photo’s with mad flags and banners; ‘Get that on Twitter’.
Time to find your block; ‘Who’s got the tickets?’ This is it. Were on the march. Inside, more Blues, more faces you see and no. The bustle and buzz continues. Singing in the toilets, on the concourse. Maybe time for a cheeky pie and a pint. The climb up the steps, another ‘hair on the back of my neck’ moment. Wow. The size of this place. Surrounded by our own but facing our biggest enemy. In the same ground as them. Trying to outsing, outshine, out do each other. Blue vs Red.
Find your seat, say hello to people, and sing your head off. Try and take it all in. Try and get on telly. Wear your shirt, scarf and fly your flag with pride. Feel the pride. The atmosphere. Handshakes and hugs. Remember when Saha scored. Hugging strangers. Recent times. I could get used to this. This is what football is all about. Realise how much you love the club. Realise how much you appreciate being an Evertonian. Realise how much you would hate to be a Liverpudlian. Thank your parents, grandparents that you were born into this and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
The game; the emotions. The refereeing decisions, the individual performances. The winning, the losing. Feeling on top of the World when we score, if we score, we should score against these. Surely. ‘Come on Everton these are shte’. The extra time, the penalties. The possibilities. The nerves continue, they get worse. I feel sick.
The massive difference in emotions be it a win or a loss. The feeling that you never want to go home if we beat them. The place will be amazing. Down there and up here. Over 30,000 of us feeling like we want to stand on our seats celebrating and never leave. Knowing that thousands of Blues back home or wherever they are in the World will be celebrating in their own way. Knowing that for all their millions that THEY can never match our class. Born not manufactured. One Evertonian, twenty Liverpudlians.
The feeling that you cannot wait to get home if we lose. Massive comparisons. Dejection, double dejection because it’s them. Consoling others. Consoling yourself.
Let’s be positive though. Let’s do them. Let’s not contemplate defeat.
The journey home, the night out down south or back in town. Losing your voice. Painting the town Blue. Telling everyone who will listen that you are Everton. The admiration of your people and your club, the desire to experience many more victories like these. Wanting to do it again and again. These games bring our club together. When you think our spirit couldn’t get any stronger it does. When you think we are down and out we are not. The backs against the wall spirit will never go away. We will never go away. What’s our name?
The pride, the passion, the belonging, the spirit; Take it all in your stride in the coming fortnight. Enjoy it as much as you can. Remember you are part of this club. Listen and see with your eyes what it means to our fans, read what our players say about the experience. All proud to be Blue. Tell others about it. Embrace it, remain positive; be thankful for what we have at our club. A manager who is a real leader and a set of players who have an excellent collective attitude, spirit and determination to do well for the shirt. We don’t do primadonna’s at Goodison. Don’t do individuals. Fans, players and staff alike all work as one for the good of this club. Let’s make Wembley a sea of Blue and White. Let’s do our club proud, shout it loud. Forget them, this is us.

Two so far today. As I said, at the moment there are a few players in the SPL that can definitely make the step up. At Rangers it's Naismith and Naismith only. Celtic have Forrest, Kayal, Wanyama and Hooper that I believe could go into a side like Everton and above and hold their own. It's the first time in a very long time Celtic have had players that I felt could do that.

Just home from today's game. After a quiet first half which Everton dominated without creating a lot the game came alive in the second half. 3 quality finishes by Guaye, Osman and Pienaar.
Felliani and Pienaar were different class today. Best players on the park by a mile.

David Moyes has claimed Everton take poor decisions "on the chin" and will avoid following Kenny Dalglish's example of questioning the integrity of referees ahead of Saturday's FA Cup semi-final between the Merseyside rivals.
The Liverpool manager risked censure from the Football Association after the home draw with Aston Villa last weekend, when he alleged "inexcusable" and "unexplainable" decisions had gone against his team in three successive matches and suggested "people might think there is a conspiracy" against the Anfield club.
Liverpool then benefited from three major decisions in their 3-2 win at Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday when the referee, Anthony Taylor, elected not to issue a second yellow card to Jon Flanagan, booked the substitute goalkeeper Brad Jones for a foul on Yakubu Ayegbeni inside the penalty area and, according to Steve Kean, missed a "blatant foul" by Martin Skrtel on Grant Hanley before Andy Carroll's stoppage-time winner.
Asked if Dalglish was seeking to put pressure on Howard Webb, Saturday's referee, ahead of the semi-final, Moyes said: "A similar thing happened before the first derby this season, when we got a player [Jack Rodwell] sent off. I don't know what Liverpool's business is. We are not arguing with the referees at Everton.
"We've had bad decisions here and have had to take them on the chin. I've not made too big fuss of it. I've not called Mike Riley, not spoke to him. We have to go with the integrity of the referee, which we will do."
Riley, the Professional Game Match Officials' general manager, met Dalglish two weeks before the Goodison derby this season following complaints from the Liverpool manager over Mark Clattenburg's performance in their defeat at Stoke City.
Moyes added: "I'm pleased it's Howard. He has handled many big games before and I hope he has a good game and handles it as he sees fit. But we are not discussing referees or the performance of referees here at Everton. We are not going to get embroiled in that.
"We will go with the referee on the day. We will trust his judgement. No doubt I will be shouting if things don't go right, but that's what you do if you're a manager."

A warrant was issued for Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar's arrest today - the day after he scored a dramatic equaliser against Manchester United in a remarkable 4-4 draw.
Premier League star Pienaar, 30, is wanted after his Aston Martin DBS was caught speeding twice on the same road in the space of 11 days.
The footballer failed to let the authorities know who was driving and today failed to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court.

A judge issued a warrant and said he should be bailed to appear on a date to be fixed so that he can be sentenced. The charge of failing to notify who was driving was proven in his absence.
Pienaar, on loan at Everton from Spurs, faces a possible driving ban as each offence carries a minimum six penalty points.

Still finding it hard to take to him. I took to Dunc eventually though so I suppose there's hope.

Saw this on SSN earlier. Fair play to Tim Cahill. Drove around Liverpool and the first person he saw with Everton gear on he gave them a season ticket for the 12 / 13 season.

No added a nice few quid onto his price tag today.

Jelavic. What a signing.
I'm disgusted with myself. I had to choose between Jelavic and Cisse for my fantasy team and opted for Cisse! Its going to cost me about 50 quid. Serves me right really.
Has been instrumental in the good run at the end. I wonder what an Everton season would be like it they actually put points on the board from the off?

Well a season of two halves.
The signings in Janurary ignited the season.
Dissapointing in that they never played in the second half of the cup semi final.
Still it's nice to finish above your rivals in the league table.

Hard to know Mr J. Half the problem is that Everton never seem to have any money to spend in the summer and then when Moyes gets bodies in during the winter they are too far behind to do anything.

Some kinky goings on after yesterdays game.
Steven Pienaar was handcuffed to the showers at Goodison Park last night as the Everton squad showed their desperation for him to stay.
The squad were in high spirits as the season ended, but made sure the South African was under no illusions as to how they felt about his loan spell from Spurs ending.
“They [the players] have handcuffed him [Pienaar] to the showers,” goalkeeper Tim Howard said.
“He’s not going back down to London. We tease Steven all the time. He has to stay at Everton.
“This is his home. He knows it, we know it.”

Steven Pienaar gave an emotional interview with evertontv on Sunday.
The South African broke down as he spoke to our cameras on the pitch following the 3-1 victory over Newcastle.
Pienaar, scorer of Everton's opening goal, was playing the last game of his loan spell from Tottenham.

It'll be interesting to see where Everton go from here. Pienaar will be a big blow if they can't hold onto him (and if I was Harry, I'd be bringing him back to Spurs) so they could end up back where they started again come August.
Jelavic could be big next season though.

Pienaar has said in so many words that he wants to come back. However i can see other clubs being in for him as his form has been excellent since he started playing.
Need to strengthen though. Pienaar, another forward and possibly another winger. A right back would be something to look at as well as both Neville and Hibbert are not getting any younger. Jelavic as you say could be huge next year if he caries on in the same vein.Barkley is still very much an unknown quantity and i would love to see how good he really is.
All this is just wishful thinking though as they wil probably need to sell to buy.

The same guy said the same thing around a month ago and said a fee of £5 million. So i will wait a bit on this one first to see if there is any truth. Realistically though any bid in the region of £15 million will see Baines leave imo. And if he does go whoever gets him is getting a very very good player.
