Well deserved win for Everton

Arsenal are a bit of a jigsaw team at the moment

Ya it was a great result alright. Carsley was class in fairness . Although I'd porbably hae given MOTM to Lescott . I thought he was superb down the left , especially considering he's not a LB. One negative for me was AJ. I know he got the goal , but his general play was very poor . No awareness or composure on the ball. He's been playing this way for a bit now . Hopefully it's only a phase.

Most satisfying was the fact that I never felt as if Arsenal were going to score at all. Moyes got his tactics spot on. A nice balance between defence and attack ,

Osman is not good enough though

The greatest team in the world, EVER (by virtue of beating Bolton, once, by 3-1) do it again.

They truly are the bestestest.

If they hadn't lost and drawn all those games againt 'lesser' sides, they'd be top of t he league.

Oh well....

Agree on Ossie, but I thought AJ played quite well. In fairness he has been paired with Vic, Beatts and now Vaughan over the last few games, so a slight amount of unawaredness of his strike partner's positioning is understandable. He was a bit off on his early crossing but overall I though he put in a good shift.Lescott, for me, is our signing of the season. His composure and awareness along with his willing to move forward on the wings is an invaluable asset to the team now. We could do with raising the fee for Manny aswell, he looks great in midfield. All in all the future looks bright!

It sure does. Apparently Bill Kenwright was quoted as saying that there will be no doubt that Everton will spend big in the summer . Manny and Nugent would be nice to start with

I take your point about AJ . He still hasn't got a settled partner. I still think it'll be a while before Vic and Vaughan will be ready for a regular starting appearance and Beattie is finished almost certainly.

In a strange way, i'll be sad to see Beatts go. I hope he somehow finds his form and stays, but we need cash for a summer swoop so it'll probably be Beatts and Van the man seeing the exit door. Two players who could have been so much better than they showed. Sad, but if we signed Manny and Nugent i'd be made up. Roll on another 2 weeks before we take on the villians

Van der Meyde ia player who I really wanted to (and still do) do well. There must be something seriously wrong behind the cenes cos he's looked really good anytime he's been given a chance .

It just won't happen though. It was the same with Amokachi . Everytime he played I prayed that this would be his game It happened once in the semi against Spurs ( still my favourite ever moment as an Everton Fan) but he just never carried on from there . Shame. The same seems to be happening with VDM

Don't mean to assassinate anyone's character without due cause but I have heard rumours that Van Der Meyde has a booze problem. He looked top class was a few yrs alongside Van Der Vaart at Ajax but both players look to be regressing a bit (Van Der Meyde more so).

The thing about Beats is he has never been given the chance to shine really..last season he was a bloody decent player showing us signs he is worth the 6million we paid for him...just like El Toro said I would also be sad to see the big guy go...benitez stuck with crouch for so long last season and when he finally got that goal you could see what it meant to him..he went on to play considerably well after that and scored quite a few more goals too..thats all beattie needs..a good run in the team alongside AJ and who knows, it could be beneficial to him and to all of us Evertonians who have been crying out for a 20 goal a season man since Tony Cottee..I think he deserves his chance and we should not get on his back because of a few missed chances in games..it happens to every striker..Rooney had a shitty period where he went months without scoring and on top of that he wasn't playing that good either...So whats the difference between the demise of JB and fatty at the time..Ferguson gave fatty a chance...thats the difference...

Comparing Rooney and Beattie is stretching it to say the least. The problem with Beattie is that he's had numerous chances this season . He hasn't been able to get himself fit for a start and unfortuately he's at an age now where if he's not moved on Moyes will be stuck with him . I'd imagine that Beattie would be one of the higher paid players at the club and to be honest he's not worth that. Everton aren't Liverpool in that repect . Players being paid that amount of money need to be performing , simple as .

Besides a purple patch last year, he's been woeful . It's hard to accept , but it's true. Time for the board to cut their losses and open up some dalary space for someone who's goona get goals

its not that i was comparing rooney and beattie i was comparing the situation both found themselves in...yep rooney is a much better player, without a doubt but beattie has had a horrible time of late..seeing James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe start games recently cant be doing his mind much good..who knows, maybe this is a message from Moyes to get him to finally show what he can do and force his way past these two. if he applys himself well enough in training then im sure Moyes would gladly throw him in...but you see its one thing doing it in training against your teamates and another doing it against guys you dont play against on the training ground. its a shame he just wont give him that run of five or six games..if he sucks in the first few then stick with him and let him get that fitness, that sharpness, that way towards the oppostions goal back...im sure you are right when you say he is one of the top earners at the club and he is not showing it..thats very true...but how can he show it when he does not get the games...one game here, a sub appearance there...not good enough for a guy we forked out a fair sum of money for..so if moyes would stop the bullshit and tell him if he is either a) staying and going to get games or b) he is out of here because he is shit...
time will tell if the boss hs the balls but now he is just playing games with a player i thought would turn out to be an everton legend....

I dunno . I just don't think that Beattie plays in the Moyes way, i.e. If your playing shit then at least you're still giving 100% effort. He's a very lazy player and when you have guys like Vaughan and Viv , who will run and run and run all day , it's hard to put in a guy like Beattie , who'll just stand there and wait for chances to come his way.

I'd love to be wrong bout him but I just don't see any way back for him .

fair play to everton, was one of those games i felt if they turned up and played well they wouldnt lose, looked destined for a draw but AJ snatched it in the end, thought carsley was immense, lescott again looked comfortable, not saying wolves would have stayed in the PL two years but losing lescott for the season didnt help matters.

only saw the first half an 10 mins of the second. i'd have given it to carsley tbh. i fancied everton to win this one, arsenal look hopeless with aliadiere up front/henry on the treatment table.

He's ben great since he arrived but I thought he gave the ball away a bit too much on sunday and in dangerous areas as well. But some great skill in the first half that left a few of the Arsenal lads includinf Fabregas chasing shadows.

Lescott has been superb this season and would be my choice for Everton player of the year if it wasn't for Arteta being sensational. He'll only get better as well and the fact that he can concievably play anywhere along the back four is an added bonus

Arsenal beaten or shattered by another late goal

The third time it's happened lately

I wonder what Matthew Flamini would think...........

Do you leave Arsenal home games before the final whistle to beat the crowds or catch the early train? If you do, you might want to reconsider.

Sunday's dramatic comeback against Manchester United was the latest in a long line of frantic finales at Emirates Stadium. Goals from Robin van Persie and Thierry Henry snatched victory from the jaws of defeat but the statistics suggest that Arsenal's late flurry should not have been a surprise.

Arsène Wenger's side have an outstanding record in the final 10 minutes* of their Premiership home games since the start of last season. During that time Arsenal have outscored their opponents 20-0. This represents nearly a quarter of their goals scored in that entire 17-month period.

To put Arsenal's prolific late scoring rate in perspective, their closest challengers over the same time frame is Liverpool with nine goals. And while the Merseysiders have shipped goals in the final 10 minutes of home games, Arsenal's defence has not been breached.

Since moving to Emirates Stadium, Arsenal have scored 10 goals in the last 10 minutes of home games in all competitions. Gilberto salvaged a draw with a late equaliser on the opening day of this season against Aston Villa and Mathieu Flamini grabbed a last-minute winner against Dinamo Zagreb four days later.

Hamburg were humbled by late goals from Emmanuel Eboue and Julio Baptista, Robin van Persie's double - and another for Flamini - turned a narrow lead over Blackburn into a thumping victory last month and Van Persie netted just before the final whistle against Charlton three weeks ago.

Of course, the Dutchman was at it again on Sunday before Henry broke United's hearts. In fact, of the 20 Premiership goals scored in the last 10 minutes of Arsenal's home games since the start of last season, Van Persie and Henry lead the way with six apiece.

So, if a game at the Emirates seems to be petering out or meandering towards a predictable conclusion, don't be tempted to make an early exit. Arsenal often leave it late, but it's always worth the wait.
