Jimmy Crowley's Cork Folk Club

Windsor Inn LV Bar, 55 MacCurtain St.
Doors 9:00 pm - Admission: €10

Irish Folk Legend, Jimmy Crowley, plays host to some of his favorite acoustic and folk colleagues and friends at the intimate coziness of the old dining-room, upstairs at the gregarious, musician-friendly Windsor Hotel. The idea of a folk club is to sing the truth of the world; to celebrate our musical heritage and to provide a rostrum not just for old folkies; but for younger artist who have something distinctive to say in an acoustic format. In the tradition of English Folk Clubs, the bar is outside the room, thus affording respect for the performer and audience alike. However, the wonderful bar at the LV is but a short scove downstairs to fetch a pint before, after and during the intermission. Jimmy, who now spends much of his time in the US, will tap into his association with American folkie friends; thus one never knows for sure who might happen to drop into his Folk Club! For a really rich cultural experience and a fascinating flavor of the songs and ballads of the Beautiful City of Cork, both the visitor and native will savour something not too readily available anymore: a sanctum for the bard and much more than entertainment for the patron.
