Following a hugely successful run last March, Frank Twomey and Pakie O’Callaghan make a welcome return to the Everyman Palace Theatre with Surviving Santa Ponsa. From September 24th audiences will have a second chance to catch the uproariously funny sequel to last years smash hit, Santa Ponsa or Bust.

Not wanting to gild the lily, Frank and Pakie nevertheless couldn’t resist rewriting the ending of the sequel to reflect the good fortune of a certain Cork North side family, neighbours of the plays main protagonists…

Santa Ponsa or Bust began life as a radio soap immediately grabbed the attention of Cork audiences. The stage version became one of the most successful home grown comedies in the Everyman Palace Theatre’s history.

Surving Santa Ponza: Packie O'Callaghan and Frank Twomey

The second installment in the comedy, Surviving Santa Ponsa charts the adventures of two hapless Cork couples. With their husbands locked up in a Spanish jail, the two ‘auld dolls’ find they’ve acquired two million euro, by rather dubious means! Suddenly frolicking in Brown Thomas, luring TV celebs into their homes and all the while under the close scrutiny of villain Hans Von Snicht…. will spendthrift Noreen and nymphomaniac Carmel have spent the dosh and done the dirt by the time their husbands get out of the slammer?

The excesses of Celtic Tiger Ireland are again put under scrutiny and mercilessly lampooned in this wildly funny show!
