Ferris Wheel Allows Cork People to Look at Cork

Cork City council have announced the return of the super-popular Ferris wheel on Grand Parade this Christmas so that Cork people can look at Cork.

The popularity of the ride last year took the local authority by surprise with queues from Grand Parade almost as far as Mallow at times with approximately ten million Cork people hoping to catch a unique glimpse of their favourite place in the world.

With demand for the wheel likely to exceed last year’s it is expected that many Corkonians will camp out at the site of the wheel up to a week before it is constructed at the City Library in order to secure a place.

“I dunno I just loves lookin’ at Cork”, said Cork man Donnie ‘The Slap’ O’Driscoll from Assumption Road, “it makes me all emoshinil up there biy, I can’t stop meself goin’ up again and again.”

Statistics published by the operators showed that over 80% of people who took a ride the big wheel in 2013 as part of the city’s ‘Glow: A Cork Christmas Celebration’ were from Cork and the other 20% were foreigners who wished they were.

A sizeable portion of the population also declared a nostalgic interest in being held aloft around the old Grand Parade hotel – part of which housed the famous Sir Henry’s nightclub.

“Cmere boy, I haven’t been that high on the Grand Parade since that October weekender in ’94!!”, said Tommy ‘Mitsu’ McCarthy a Henry’s regular in the early nineties, as he exited the Ferris wheel last December.

City Council have also been urged by many citizens to set up a local TV channel that broadcasts continuous live footage from the top of the Ferris wheel. As well as being able to gaze lovingly at their city from the comfort of their own homes Cork people are also anxious to see who they might know, what new fashion they’re wearing and discussing if that bitch from up the road has put on more weight since last year or if she’s pregnant.
