Electric Underground Label Launch

Electric Underground Label Launch
Liquid Lounge - Friday19th

Electric Underground are set to launch a brand new record label this Friday in the Liquid Lounge pushing Cork based electronica acts on an international scale.

Electric Underground began in January 2007 with the idea to give independent producers of electronic music a platform on which to perform. A passion for original music and the thrill of putting on live gigs summoned a need to provide the people of Cork with a new dimension to an already diverse scene.

Kevin Blake has produced the first release for Electric Underground.

Over the last two years, they have brought over 100 acts to Cork at a low door price. Their residency is in the fantastic liquid lounge club which is right in the heart of Cork city. They run live gigs there every Friday from 10pm - 2am with at least two acts playing per night.

They have brought some huge names to Cork including Kenny Larkin, Luke Vibert, Mu-ziq, Bonobo, and Neil Landstrumm.

After having such a successful run of promoting in the Liquid Lounge, the next logical step was to start up a record label and get good electronic music out of the boundaries of Cork.

The first release being by Electric Underground's very own resident and co-founder Kevin Blake.

Kevin has been playing live around the country for almost two years now, and has played such high profile gigs as Electric Picnic, The Green Gathering Festival, and the Bud Rising Festival. The EP titled 'You Are What You Hear' will be for sale at the gig for the very special introductory price of €5.

Best Promoters, Best Resident and Best VJ nominations at the Irish Dance Music Awards

It will then be on sale in Plugd from Saturday for the price of €7.99 and then in the shops nationally from February through RMG.

The EP has been played heavily on various radio shows including Cían O'Cíobháin's An Taobh Tuathail, Donal Dineen's Small Hours, Dan Hegarty's Alternative To Sleep and various other podcasts and local stations. It fuses the modern influence of dubstep along with electronica, techno and hip hop.

EU have also been very lucky to receive four nominations at this years Irish Dance Music Awards and are the only Cork promoters to achieve this. They have been nominated for 'Best Promoter', 'Best Resident' - Warren Knowles, 'Best Vj' - PixelScribblers, and 'Best Small Club' - The Liquid Lounge.
